We are building our Facilities Management Team and looking for a Facilities Manager to join our local manufacturing facility and Distribution Centre in New Westminster, BC. This role will primarily service the working environment on-site however you will partner with our global facilities team to ensure standardization and continuity of experience across all Arc’teryx buildings.
As the Facilities Manager, Manufacturing and Distribution you will lead the facilities co-ordination, maintenance, and mechanic teams to ensure smooth operations of our ARC’One building. You are responsible for building a strong team of leaders and skilled trade employees while demonstrating strong desire to coach and empower behaviors that are aligned with Arc’teryx culture and value. You partner closely with our manufacturing and distribution operations teams to maintain a healthy, safe, orderly, and high performing work environment. You’ll partner and manage a Facilities Coordinator, Maintenance Lead and Mechanic Lead.
**If you were the Facilities Manager now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing**:
- Oversee, build, and maintain vendor relationships including agreeing contracts for service providers including security, cleaning, lease, catering etc.
- Build, manage and maintain budgets and ensuring cost effectiveness of our building services
- Ensure facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and safety standards
- Collaborate and partner with operational leaders on day to day requests as well as longer term improvement projects and ensure all facilities and maintenance requests are completed within target SLA
- Consistently keep our future growth and long-term needs top of mind as you oversee space planning for both our manufacturing and distribution center
- Develop and evolve key performance metrics for your key business processes
- Support with preventative maintenance scheduling and building security (e.g. regular inspections of facilities, fire suppression equipment, PPE, lights, general upkeep, building access), ensuring all equipment and appliances are in working order and coordinating vendors as needed
- Manage the work schedule and providing direction for your functional leaders
- Conducting administrative tasks (e.g. invoice & budget management, preparing purchase orders within budget requirements, updating emergency management plans, Higg FEM sustainability reporting), audits and managing office supplies (e.g. PPE, first aid inventory and fire extinguisher checks; maintaining office inventory)
- Support our sustainability and waste management initiatives with environmental reporting duties and continuously seek ways to reduce our environmental impact (eg: partnering with our internal sustainability and green teams and external stakeholders)
- Create and improve processes to support overall performance, productivity (eg: 6S audit), employee experience, and safety as a Great Place to Work
- Partner with our employee experience, people & culture and business leaders to create a fun workspace, support and manage events as needed
**Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future**:
- Manage major space acquisitions, leases and renovations, working with external contractors to oversee construction, renovations and/or upgrades
- Audit our vendors base and Service Level Agreements with the goal to build the most productive partnerships
- Partner with the global team for projects external to ARC’One facility
- Further support the Sustainability team with improvements across our factory and warehouse to help lessen the environmental impact at our facilities
**Are you our next Facilities Manager?**:
- You have a degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent professional level experience
- You have 5+ years’ experience in a similar role, manufacturing and distribution experience is an asset
- You have strong interpersonal skills: you can deal with difficult situations with tact and professionalism, and you know how to create strong relationship with a customer service focused mentality
- You have proven track record of working effectively in cross-functional settings and can balance collaboration with autonomy
- You have proven people leadership, mentorship and project management skills
