The Front and Back of House Assistant and Dishwasher is responsible for assisting in the lunchroom, kitchen and working in the dishwashing area. The main responsibilities include serving clients and guests, ensuring a clean and orderly kitchen and lunch room, assisting with food serving, and cleaning after meal servises.

Uquutaq Medical Boarding Home provides integral services to those from Nunavut traveling for medical and other reasons. We are dedicated to ensuring Nunavummiut have a safe, comfortable, and positive place to stay. Our staff must demonstrate empathy, patience, compassion, and maintain composure under high-pressure circumstances to provide the best service possible.

Team Dynamics:
It takes all departments and everyone working together to ensure guests have a positive experience. It is essential for all staff to work together and maintain positive working relationships.
- Roles & Responsibilities:

- Ensure all food service to the guests is uniformly prompt, courteous, and cheerful.
- Ensure food preparation, food storage, serving and dining areas are clean and organized.
- Wash, dry and put away all dishes and kitchen utensils.
- Mop and sweep kitchen and dining area floors. Take out garbage and replace garbage bags.
- Clearing and cleaning tables both during and after meal service.
- Organize food deliveries including unloading food, and ensure all food is stored in a safe manner.
- Ensure the Front of House is well stocked, presentable, and all food items are of good quality.
- Take requests from clients and guests for alternative meal items.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report any deficiencies to the Kitchen Manager.
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
- Other duties as assigned.

Deadlines:
It is the responsibility of the Kitchen Helper to ensure all deadlines are met:

- Ad-hoc deadlines as required.

**Education / Qualifications**:

- Highschool diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in the hospitality industry is an asset.
- Possession of a valid Food Handlers Certificate is required.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is an asset.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification is an asset.
- Able to multitask efficiently.
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent organization skills.
- Able to withstand long hours of standing, bending, and moving around Working knowledge of food safety standards and practices.
- Able to use common kitchen equipment and appliances safely.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

**Supervisory Duties**:

- No supervisory duties are required.
- Sensory & Mental Attention:

- This position will manage a number of requests and priorities at one time. Constant pivoting between multiple tasks can be expected. Stress levels may be increased during mealtimes due to the fast-paced nature of this position.

**Physical Efforts**:

**Work Environment**:
This position is located in two different areas:
**Kitchen**:
This area is located indoors in an air-conditioned building with incandescent and fluorescent lighting. Typical noise levels can be elevated during mealtimes. Varying temperatures can be expected while working in the kitchen.

**Dining Room**:
This area is located indoors in an air-conditioned building with incandescent and fluorescent lighting. Typical noise levels can be elevated during mealtimes. The dining room can become crowded during busy times due to an influx in guests with tables and chairs spread throughout the room.
