As a key position within the Marketing Department, the Content Manager reports to the Senior Manager, Brand Content. The Web Content Writer is responsible for developing and managing an integrated content calendar across all owned channels including website, newsletters, and social media. The Web Content Manager/Web Content Writer will have strong editorial and writing skills to create engaging website copy and blog articles that align with Ottawa Tourism’s content strategy. Content will be developed to create awareness, consideration, and conversion for tourism target audiences such as: local residents, leisure tourists, and in support of B2B. The Content Manager will monitor, analyze, and report on content performance and provide recommendations for optimization, including keywords and SEO and work closely with the web team.

- Possess exceptional communication and written skills in both English and French, with the ability to write engaging content for B2C and B2B audiences.
- Demonstrate a high level of understanding of content management systems (CMS), search engine optimization (SEO), and web analytics to optimize content performance.
- Showcase strong prioritization skills, adeptly managing multiple projects and thinking strategically to achieve content goals.
- Maintain a consistent track record of meeting deadlines with high-quality content submissions.
- Possess a broad and flexible approach to work, readily adapting to changing demands and demonstrating strong task orientation.
- Become a go-to resource within the organization for all areas related to web writing and content management.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous self-improvement and actively seek opportunities to enhance the content management function.
**Primary Areas of Responsibility**
- Develop compelling and informative web content across various formats - articles, blogs, landing pages, event calendars, and member directories - ensuring optimal search engine visibility through strategic SEO implementation to outrank competitors
- Work with the content team to develop, execute, and manage an integrated editorial calendar. Cultivate a multi-layered content ecosystem that drives awareness, consideration and conversions
- Conduct keyword search using dedicated tools to recommend keyword ideas and inform content creation.
- Develop compelling web and collateral content targeted towards B2B audiences in the Major Event, Travel Trade, and Business Events sectors. Craft data-driven and SEO-optimized content to drive qualified leads and sales opportunities.
- Translate some content into French and proof French content from external sources
- Demonstrate strong project management and time management skills
- Analyze content on key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and gaps and provide recommendations and direction to optimize and scale. Identify website content gaps and make recommendations to optimize pages for improved search results and to inform content creation to increase website traffic
- Monitor site traffic, and search results to design and develop new content and updated initiatives to improve site performance
- Research and gather data to identify trends based on past performance essential for marketing and content planning. Monitor other destinations' content and be informed of travel trends, themes, travel sentiment
- Stay up-to-date with the latest web, SEO, and marketing performance tools, trends, best practices, and strategies
**Desired** Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree in journalism, communications, English, marketing, advertising or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience working with content management systems (CMS).
- Proven ability to utilize website analytics and conduct keyword research to inform content strategy and optimize content for search engines (SEO).
- Solid understanding of the full content marketing funnel from awareness to consideration and conversion.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage internal and external resources efficiently to deliver high-quality content on time and within budget.
