**About the Organization**

Labour Community Services of Peel (LCSP) is a project of the Peel Regional Labour Council and a member agency of United Way of Peel Region. LCSP provides advocacy, referral, and education in the areas of Government income security programs, Employment Rights, and Human Rights to residents of Peel Region. Our key strategies are legal services, legal education, community development and outreach, and law reform. The Director of Legal Services is responsible for managing the legal department and supporting clients by providing legal education, advice, and representation related to employment related matters and income supports under provincial and federal law as allowed by the Law Society.

**Responsibilities**

**Day to day operation of the Agency including**:

- Oversee the organization’s day-to-day legal operations, ensuring efficiency and smooth functioning;
- Lead the design and delivery of legal services including: managing workflow, supervising and training caseworkers, and creating accessible legal educational materials;
- Oversee case management software (PracticePanther) use, liaising with the case management representative to make changes based on our needs, and training staff on its use;
- Assess clients’ needs as it relates to legal education, information, and other supportive measures;
- Assess best legal pathway for client after conducting legal consultation;
- Conduct online research and be able to utilize the organization’s electronic resources efficiently and effectively;
- Responsible for the delivery of the Help Centre Program;
- Provide consultation, referral, and representation specific to Government Income Security programs such as Employment Insurance, WSIB, Canada Pension Plan, Canada Pension Plan Disability and Social Assistance;
- Provide consultation, referral, and representation specific to Ontario Employment Standards Act, Ontario Health and Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Canada Labour Code and Canadian Human Rights Act;
- Ensure the delivery of the Know Your Rights at Work training program to the Peel Regional community;
- Produce comprehensive reports that outline key data to support grant reporting requirements.
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- A minimum of 3 years experience as a Paralegal;
- A minimum of 1 years experience in a management and legal role;
- A Bachelor's or College degree in Paralegal studies or a related field;
- Member in Good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;
- Proficiency in legal research and analysis with a specific knowledge of WSIB, Ontario Human Rights Code, Canadian Labour Code, and the Employment Standard Act is an asset;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills; builds strong working relationships and works well within a team environment toward common goals;
- Experience with working in a diverse community with knowledge of anti-oppressive and trauma-informed practice;
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills;
- Proficiency in a second language is an asset;
- Full G driver’s license is an asset;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Excellent organizational and time management skill.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
