Our passionate team of Direct Support Professionals is dedicated to advancing inclusion for people who live with developmental disabilities in North Muskoka. As an Employment Specialist with our Community Participation team, you will support people with disabilities in their person-directed goals to achieve and maintain meaningful and fulfilling employment, promote understanding and disability inclusion with local employers and workplaces, and help build a strong community where everyone feels a sense of belonging, purpose, and connection.

**Your Role**:

- Provide support for people in their workplaces and community by using an approach that respects their independent choices and abilities
- Coordinate and facilitate planning meetings with people on their Person-Directed Plans, which includes growing an understanding of the person, identifying valued social roles that can be developed, and creating action plans to support the person’s employment goals
- Foster connections by supporting people in their relationships with family, friends, community members, employers, and community associations
- Support people to overcome barriers in the community, and advocate alongside them to promote a more inclusive community
- Cross-train and pick up additional shifts with our Supported Living team, growing your knowledge and skills in different areas of our organization

**Your Qualifications**:

- Knowledge about and commitment to disability rights, the principles of inclusion, and the Community Living Movement
- DSW diploma or 2-year diploma in the Human Services field
- Strong communication skills
- Tolerance of, and ability to handle, a heavy workload and competing demands
- Ability to use and learn new technology (computers, software programs, phones, printer/scanners, alarm/security systems, etc.)
- Ability to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driver’s abstract and reliable transportation to be used in course of employment
- Physical ability to support people, some with limited mobility, in all aspects of daily living and in different settings
- Free of communicable diseases
- Ability, availability, and commitment to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends
