Destination Canada is looking for a **Translation Coordinator** **,** to join our team as we inspire travellers to explore Canada. This position is remote and the employee can be located in any major Canadian city.
Reporting to, and under the general supervision of the Manager, Translation, the Translation Coordinator supports a fast-paced team responsible for providing translation, adaptation, editing, proof reading and other linguistic services to the organization. The Translation Coordinator monitors the Translation Department’s overall activities, facilitates team communications and workflows and liaises with suppliers and requestors. The role is a stimulating mix of coordination, project management and administrative support in the language and tourism fields.

**DUTIES**:
- Intakes translation requests using project management software, analyses files and word counts for accuracy and distributes assignments to internal and external resources.
- Plans, coordinates, schedules and monitors the various steps of translation projects, with a goal to meet deadlines.
- Prepares documents for outsourcing, performs pre-translations using CAT tools and provides appropriate project documentation to suppliers.
- Performs proof reading and reviews of documents, presentations and reports.
- Processes and codes invoices, tracks and reconciles expenditures and maintains financial records.
- Takes notes and maintains records of discussions at team meetings and project planning sessions.
- Formats documents, prepares documents for software processing and archives files.
**Essential Qualifications**
**EDUCATION**: Post-secondary education in translation, French studies or linguistics or in project management, business or office administration.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a coordinator role in a fast-paced bilingual environment, preferably in translation.
- Experience prioritizing, scheduling and planning multiple projects.
- Experience coordinating the overall assignments of a team, distributing workload and ensuring good balance within team members.
- Experience working with suppliers.
- Experience proof reading print and Web copies of documents.
- Experience working with Computer-Assisted translation or neural translation tools, an asset.
**KNOWLEDGE**:
- Advanced knowledge of English and French and high linguistic sensitivity.
- Knowledge of the translation, adaptation, editing and proof reading processes.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of computer-assisted translation and/or neural translation software, an asset.
**ABILITIES**:
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and with all levels of employees within the organization, as well as external suppliers.
- Ability to analyze complex information.
- Ability to negotiate deadlines and plan and organize projects in a deadline-focused environment.
- Ability to solve problems by looking at the big picture and being flexible to find solutions.
- Solid interpersonal skills with a focus on maintaining excellent client relationships.
