**Children Services Coordinator** **Job**S**tatus**: Temporary Full-Time **Pay & Grade**: $64,784 to $82,229 Annually **Grade/Band**: 7 **Hours** of Work**: 35 Hours per week **Initial location**: Kitchener City Hall **Posting period**: May 23, 2025 to May 30, 2025 (at 6:00pm) **Overview** Come work for our Community Services Department as a Coordinator, Children Services. This exciting role is part of the Children and Youth Services team who works in collaboration and consultation with young people, area residents, children-serving agencies, and community groups, to ensure that children across the city of Kitchener have opportunities and access to fun and inclusive recreation and leisure programs. This role provides leadership in the planning, development, coordination and implementation of City-wide children’s programs, services, and resources, ensuring excellent service to impact child well-being. **Responsibilities** - Plans, delivers, and evaluates quality children's summer programming. - Plans and delivers a youth leadership program - Develops and administers school-year children's programming at City facilities. This includes after school, PD days, winter break and March break programs. - Coordinates the recruitment, hiring, training and support of children’s programming staff. This includes coaching and mentoring. - Specific functions include, but not limited to: program design, planning, implementation and evaluation, supplies and program budgeting, marketing staff coordination, facilitation, communication with program stakeholders, volunteer management and customer service. - As the internal leader in children’s programs, serve in a consultative role supporting Neighbourhood Associations, affiliated groups and internal divisions in their delivery of children’s programs. - Report writing, forms and manual development. - Perform other related duties as assigned. **Requirements**: - Minimum 2-year post-secondary diploma or 2 years in a specialized post-secondary program in Recreation & Leisure Studies or related field. - Produce a satisfactory vulnerable police record check at your own cost as a condition of employment. - Valid CPR Level “C” and Standard First Aid Certificate. - Possess 1-2 years direct experience in the following areas: - Municipal children recreation programs - including the development, implementation, and evaluation of creative, inclusive, and exciting quality programs. - Staff coordination experience in a municipal environment or children’s program setting (recruiting, training, supporting, evaluating, and recognizing staff teams). - Demonstrated knowledge and practice in child development and early learning theory, concepts of physical and emotional literacy and age and stage appropriate programming. - Proven organization, customer services and planning skills. - Innovative and flexible thinker that understands and can respond to community trends with effective programs and services for children. - Excellent interpersonal, communication and public relations skills. - Conflict resolution and mediation skills and demonstrated experience problem solving. - Strong facilitation, leadership and team building skills and experience. - Program research, development, implementation, and evaluation skills. - Knowledge of risk management practices, policies and procedures for summer day camp or children's programs. - Proficient in ActiveNet, Word, Excel and the internet. - Valid class "G" license in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle. - Reliable with a good attitude and employment record. **Department/**Division**: Community Services, Neighbourhood Programs and Services **Group**: CUPE 791 **Competition Number**: 2025-177 **Job Code**: 0557 **Number of positions**: 1 **Why work at the City of Kitchener
