Position Overview:
The Strategic Buyer II plays a crucial role in the Procurement team. Responsible for supporting the Strategic Buyer III in procuring goods and services, this position manages end-to-end procurement functions within the assigned category/region. Reporting to the Strategic Purchasing Manager, the Strategic Buyer II helps improve lead times and reduce costs for Finning and its customers. Key responsibilities include sourcing, buying, PO management, expediting, and addressing inquiries.

Job Description:

- Source/procure goods and services from preferred suppliers to meet customer demand and business needs.
- Expedite emergency orders, considering vendor cut-off times, transportation alternatives, and freight rates.
- Follow up with internal customers and vendors regarding delays, errors, pricing, or quality issues.
- Support branches and departments in understanding procurement processes and procedures.
- Ensure consistent adherence to procurement processes and maintain effective relationships with internal departments and vendors.
- Represent the company professionally and ethically, maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 2 years of buying experience.
- SCM or equivalent degree/diploma in procurement, supply chain, or project management is an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of buying and expediting activities in end-to-end supply chain management.
- Experience in the heavy equipment, automotive, mining, parts, or power systems industry is preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems such as CODA/DBS, Infor, Rentalman, Sage, and SAP Ariba is an asset.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent team player with great organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic, both in-person and virtually.

Note:

- This position is based out of our OEM office location in Edmonton.
- Temporary, full time role for 18 months.
- Hybrid role with some remote work opportunity.
- Training opportunities to learn about Finning’s procurement processes and systems.
