DevOps Specialist

**WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING?**

Reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, you will work closely with other DevOps team members, developers, product owners, and testers to add improvements to our CI/CD pipeline to enable higher quality and faster releases to our customers.

**More specifically, your duties will include**:

- Automate and scale product deployment activities to AWS.
- Use “Infrastructure as Code / IaC” models leveraging technology like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
- Use deployment pipeline technologies to manage the delivery of infrastructure and software. Technologies currently in use include Octopus Deploy.
- Support developers and testers using build tools and test harnesses, including TeamCity, NUnit, MSTest, Jest, Selenium, and SpecFlow.
- Build scripts (PowerShell, and Bash Shell) that are part of deployment pipelines to automate manual deployment steps.
- Support the deployment process of upgrading multiple environments with tens of thousands of active users distributed among multiple geographies, including Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia, as well as numerous dedicated private/hybrid cloud customer environments.
- Use containerization technologies like Docker and Docker Compose to support delivery and deployment efforts.
- Protect the stability of the infrastructure through consistency of builds and processes.
- Help in response to performance issues identified by alerting and reporting incidents.
- Update and maintain CI/CD pipeline tools and infrastructure.
- Support the code repository systems to enable continuous flow across multiple product line versions.
- Available for escalated on-call and after-hours support as required.

**WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE**
- At least three (3) years of working experience leveraging continuous delivery patterns and technologies, including continuous build (TeamCity / Jenkins), continuous delivery and deployment (Octopus Deploy), continuous integration testing (NUnit, MSTest, Selenium/SpecFlow, Mocha / Chai / Jest), and continuous monitoring (Newrelic, APM, LogRocket).
- At least two (2) years of working experience with cloud solutions providers like AWS or Azure, deploying to cloud/IAC.
- Configure networking/security (IAM)
- At least one (1) year of working experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Docker Compose, ECS, ECR, Fargate) in a CI/CD pipeline.
- Extensive experience with PowerShell to write automation scripts.
- Experience with Git/SVN code repositories.
- Have designed and implemented at least one full CI/CD pipeline.
- Strong trouble-shooting skills with a focus on problem resolution in the minimum time possible.
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills to address cloud infrastructure or process deficiencies and propose/implement efficiency improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with other parts of the organization, including developer teams, customer-facing teams and operations.
- Demonstration of continuous learning.
- Product company experience.
- Communicates fluently in written and spoken English.
- Experience preparing/maintaining CI/CD technical documentation.

**Bonus points for**:

- Experience installing, updating, maintaining, securing and Windows server in a cloud-based environment (AWS, AWS Workspaces, Azure).
- Experience as a significant contributor on a technical transformation project (see DevOps Engineer).
- Exposure to IaC (Terraform).
- Exposure to Cloud container technologies (Docker, ECS, ECR, Fargate)
- IT Certifications: A+, Network+, Security +, AWS DevOps/Associate,
Azure DevOps/Associate, and/or Google IT Support Professional (or equivalent working experience).
- Knowledge of Web Application Architecture patterns, including Micro-App and Micro-Service architectures.
- Web server configuration and troubleshooting (IIS, Nginx, Apache).
- Proficiency in a Linux/Unix environment.
