**Job Summary**

Based in Surrey, BC, this role reports to the Lead Hand, Customer Service, or the Commercial Manager. The Forklift Operator is responsible for dealing with customers, purchasing scrap metal, receiving commercial loads, and for observing/monitoring the general delivery of material to verify conformance to quality specifications. They must ensure that all efforts are compliant with the company Health, Safety, Environmental and general work standards. Duties may include assisting with daily shipping/warehouse and production operations. The Attendant should have product knowledge of all materials and commodities shipped by Amix.

- Strictly adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and procedures.
- Contribute to a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, customers, and visitors.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist customers with unloading of recycled materials.
- Accurately grade and purchase scrap metal from customers.
- Operate a forklift in the movement of bins and equipment.
- Unload/load trailers with scrap metal materials.
- Housekeeping and general labor duties as required.
- Perform pre-trips and basic maintenance on forklift equipment.
- Participate in company training.
- Assist in morning start-up and evening shut-down procedures.

**Education and Experience**
- Grade 12 or GED or equivalent education and training
- Scrap metal experience is an asset

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Working inside, outside in dusty/dirty conditions, and around noise.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of the arms and legs, while climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
- Experience working in a high traffic, safety conscious environment.
- Forklift experience & certification
- Willingness to work outside in all conditions, as well as in a noisy and dusty environment, wearing all required PPE
- Ability to follow all established safety procedures and protocols.
- Ability to be flexible to changing work conditions and assignments and work well within a team.
- Experience working within the Scrap Metal industry an asset.
- Good interpersonal skills: role will be working directly with customers.
