Based out of our Milton office, the Manager of Communications is responsible for creating and delivering a communications and marketing strategy that supports Milton Hydro’s strategic business plan. The ideal incumbent will be a proactive, strategic advisor, enabling a superior customer and employee experience through modern, engaging communications and activities. A key component of success will be optimizing and modernizing digital channels to build both brand and culture. This role will develop integrated communication programs and events to drive excellence in community support and customer experience. Providing communications support for emergency response situations when Milton customers are facing power outages is a key responsibility of this position.

**Who You Will Partner With**

This role is a key partner to the CEO’s Office and the People & Culture team and will collaborate with Managers from all departments.

**KEY DUTIES**

**CEO Programs - Strategy and Collaboration**
- Partner with the CEO’s Office to coordinate and deliver CEO objectives. Support strategic goals and bring the organization’s vision and values to life
- Develop CEO messaging as needed for key initiatives, including community relations, sustainability, DEI and employee social events
- Develop key deliverables, such as Board reporting, presentation decks, speaking notes and promotional communications
- Identify speaking opportunities for senior executives and prepare speeches or speaking points

**Communications Planning and Execution**
- Work with internal business partners on organizational initiatives, including business updates, community relations, sustainability, P&C/DEI, technology and compliance
- Draft internal employee announcements for approval by the Sr. Leadership team
- Create and publish external communications and public relations plans to build brand awareness
- Create communication programs related to organizational initiatives (i.e., Electronic Vehicles)
- Provide internal editorial support and guidance on communication best practices
- Promote new, simplified, and modern ways to deliver communication support
- Budget development and monitoring
- Analyze, measure and provide data-driven insights on communication effectiveness with recommendations for improvements
- Act as a member of the Storm Response team, taking the lead on customer and social media communications
- Organize and attend employee and community events which may include venue and service selection, creation of marketing materials, event promotion, organizing volunteers and attending the event to ensure its success
- Represent and showcase the Milton Hydro brand and services at community and industry-related events
- Provide recommendations and guidance to the executive team regarding Milton Hydro branding and marketing materials

**Social Media, Graphics and Digital Communications**
- Working with business unit leaders, create, implement and evaluate social media campaigns
- Champion the online customer experience for Milton Hydro’s regulated and unregulated businesses to maximize customer engagement and satisfaction
- Develop strategies to drive customer use of social media and digital platforms
- Manage Milton Hydro’s website and social media platforms
- Assist with public relations by tracking media mentions on both social and traditional media networks, creating media activity reports

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Knowledge of marketing principles and communication tools
- Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills with proven attention to style, tone and content
- Skilled presenter with experience delivering engaging presentations to both internal and external audiences
- Proven knowledge and ability in developing content strategies and managing digital and online channels, including corporate intranet
