**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Instructor is responsible for the delivery and student evaluation of the assigned course as described in the curriculum/course outline. Instructors are responsible for preparing materials that fulfill the course learning outcomes, planning lessons, developing assignments and exams that reflect the integrated nature of the curriculum.

Course: PROP 1106: Construction Management & Supervision

Course Topics:
1. Describe and use project planning (e.g. tendering, bid requirements, project scheduling)
2. Organize and implement project supervision (e.g. organize labour and material)
3. Understand responsibility for pre-construction activities (e.g. site logistics, contingency, environmental impacts, inspections)
4. Site safety (e.g. OHS, WHMIS, WorkSafeBC)

Course aligns with BC Housing Builder Licence education requirements (Competency Area 2)

Delivery Method: Online Zoom, Wednesday, 6:30pm-9:30pm. 3 hour lecture per week at assigned time.

Course Length: 18 hours (6 weeks x 3 class hours)

Start date to be discussed with successful applicant based on required preparation time. Course must begin no later than 12 March 2025.

Applicant should have practical experience in construction site management, construction project management, and contracting.

Course Preparation, delivery, and administrative duties
- Develops and/or revises curriculum in consultation with the Program Coordinator as required
- Updates the course structure, teaching methods and evaluation tools as necessary
- Selects and applies appropriate resources to enhance curriculum delivery
- Delivers the curriculum in accordance with the course outline
- Facilitates the achievement of course learning outcomes and the educational goals of the students
- Creates an environment conducive to purposeful learning and positive interaction
- Monitors student performance and provides constructive feedback to the students throughout the duration of the learning process
- Records student attendance
- Ensures that all furniture and equipment in a classroom is returned to its original position at the end of class
- Administers the Course Evaluation Form by the students according to stated procedures
- Submits reports and records, including final grade breakdown, timesheets and attendance registers on time and in accordance with prescribed procedures
- Input final grades into Langara’s student management system within 10 business days of the final class/exam.
- Sets and models a high standard of professional behaviour and appropriate appearance
- Adheres to the Policies and Procedures of Langara College
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with administrators, peers, support staff, students and the community at large
- Participates in scheduled meetings and appropriate college-related activities as requested by the Program Coordinator.

Qualifications Required

Education & Experience
- A Master’s Degree in appropriate discipline from an accredited university or license/designation in related field. Bachelor degree in related discipline is acceptable.
- Specialized training or exposure to program area for which the position is responsible.
- Experience in developing course materials/curriculum
- Sound knowledge of contemporary adult education principles.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

**Salary**: $81.73/hour (18 contract hours)

Scheduling: Wednesday, 6:30pm-9:30pm. 3 hour lecture per week at assigned time. Course scheduling may vary from term to term. This position is a temporary position for the January 2025 term with the possibility of extension.
