Signarama Peterborough is looking for a team player who likes to communicate, enjoys doing a great job, is organized and likes to make a difference in whatever it is they do.

A keen eye for detail along with a healthy mix of creative and technical know-how makes this position a key part of the creative team, assists by designing, setups, and producing print, digital graphics, fabricated and custom signage. Able to learn on the go and enjoy new challenges.

A successful production designer must possess a mix of both creative and technical skills. They must be able to work quickly but also remain extremely detail-oriented.

Strong typographic and layout skills, strict attention to detail, and outstanding organizational, project management, file-organization and archiving skills are a must.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Production, and Clients
- Prepare final print/cut-ready files based on supplied specifications
- Make various formats of supplied artwork production-ready and resolve any artwork issues that arise during production
- Provide image retouching, clipping paths and additional image manipulation
- Package and preflight files for release to printers or media partners
- Create PDFs for print and client review
- Catalog, file and reference artwork for future projects
- Follow a development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time
- Attend and actively participate in daily production meeting
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise with the team
- Design, upsell through design, all types of high quality signage and deal with the public in a courteous and professional manner.
- Design and create all types of signs - vinyl, digital and various outside service products or components.
- Must be able to use an X-Acto knife, type measure, ruler and production tools efficiently.
- Properly load and operate a hot/cold pressure laminator following standard safety precautions.

Load and cut vinyl on a plotter.
- Output digital print graphics.

Operate board trimmer, print trimmer or other finishing equipment.
- Maintain machinery in good working order.

Greet customers and answer phones in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
- Assist in operating the store when needed.
- Keep a running inventory of all stock and supplies for design department.
- Maintain an organized, clean and professional work appearance at all times.
- Physical Demands:

- Must be able to climb a ladder while
- Must be able to place onto and retrieve various types of substrates from a substrate rack including the upper shelves.
- Must be in good physical condition and be able to lift up to 70 lbs more or less.

**Professional experience and skills**

A Technical Degree in design or other related positions is preferred for the production design position. Significant course work in graphic design, print production, promotional products, or a related field, along with an outstanding portfolio and experience that demonstrates clear knowledge of sign production and design, may suffice in the absence of a degree.

A production designer should have strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. These creative professionals should also be process-oriented self-starters. And they must stay up to date with new production techniques and trends through research and education.

**Salary**: $37,500.00-$52,000.00 per year
