SHARE THE WILD Join our crew at Canmore Raft Tours as an Interpretive Float Guide based in the forested slopes and big mountain views of Canmore, Alberta. In this role, you will be responsible for running fun, family friendly float tours of 8-10 guests on the exquisite turquoise waters of the Bow River, running smaller groups in our inflatable canoes and kayaks and for those with the appropriate experience, potential to guide our multi-day white water expedition trips. The role also encompasses driving guests and large trailers as well as small guest booking duties.

The Role

We are looking for crew members of all backgrounds who possess the following skills:

- You work well both independently with minimum direction and as part of a team.

- You have experience managing administrative tasks, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
- You can be flexible when schedules change and do not require major time off for the summer (ie. Weddings, trips overseas)
- You are physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment, as well as deal with adverse weather and standing in cold glacial water for long periods of time.

Guides who have good local knowledge of Canmore, Banff and the surrounding areas will find it a huge asset in this role.

**Responsibilities**
- Lead and guide rafting excursions, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
- Deliver engaging and informative commentary throughout the trip, utilizing strong public speaking skills.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing participant needs and concerns.
- Manage time effectively to adhere to schedules and maintain a smooth flow of activities.
- Utilize leadership skills to foster a positive group dynamic and enhance the overall experience.
- Communicate clearly with team members and participants, promoting a collaborative environment.
- Maintain a valid Class 4 Licence and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- 16 hour First Aid certification with AED
- Online Basic Knowledge Course (Banff, Yoho, Kootenay) from the Interpretive Guiding Association.
- Swift-water Rescue Technician (SRT), Level 2
- Possess a valid Class 4 Alberta Drivers License and are able to provide a clean driving abstract. Experience driving larger vehicles and trailers is an asset.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Fluent in English (other languages are an asset)
- Basic computer and phone skills, and cash handling skills

**Work Terms**

We typically hire by the end of March so guides will have time to acquire any certifications before the start of the guiding season, training will begin by June, and guides can expect to start tours in mid-June until the end of September. Our summers in the Rockies are short but very busy and we can offer both full and some part-time hours. Shifts are typically 10+ hrs (overtime for those who work over 40 hour full time schedules), full-time guides work on a four days on, three days off roster. Wages range from 20-24$/hour based on experience, expected gratuities will vary but average 5-10$/hour in peak summer.
