**Summary**:
The City of St. Catharines is looking to fill a Building Summer Student position.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide assistance to the staff of Building and Development
- Assist with the preparation of Sign and Fence Variance Reports
- Review of Pool Enclosure Permits, Sign Permits recommending issuance
- Review of Secondary Buildings and decks recommending the issuance under supervision of Building staff
- Assist and perform site inspections under the supervision of Manager of Inspections
- Research, investigation and data collection analysis
- Perform other similar and related duties, as required.

**Position Requirements**:

- Current enrolment in and planning to return in September to a Construction or Architectural Technology post-secondary program.
- Working knowledge of computer software including MS Office, with a strong background in MS Excel.
- Well-developed written and verbal skills.
- CSA approved work boots are required for construction sites.
- Must be physically fit to perform site inspections.
- Valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and good driving record.
- Proven completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
- A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.

**Hourly Rate**: $18.01 to $20.28

**Expected Work Location**:50 Church Street, St. Catharines

**Expected Hours of Work**: Currently Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
