**Student Finance and Awards Coordinator**:
**Primary Purpose**: To provide senior level coordination and operational leadership to the work of Student Finance and Awards and support exceptional front-line service to students related to all aspects of their student account, and to maintain excellence in financial reporting, reconciliation, and accounting policies and practices.
**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Director and Associate Registrar (Bursar), this is a key position responsible for coaching and training, operational oversight and coordination of the work of staff members to provide exceptional student-facing services related to tuition payment and collection; tuition reporting and reconciliation. The position works closely with others within Student Finance and Awards as well as with other units in TLSE, Strategic Finance Office, ICT and other academic and administrative units.
Activities may include tuition forecasting and reporting, variance analysis, management of tuition collection and related policies, liaison with university colleges and departments as well as external bodies including collections agencies, and other projects or duties related to student finance and financial aid as identified.
Tasks are varied and complex and are frequently carried out under pressure and competing priorities, require great attention to detail, confidentiality and sensitivity. This position requires well developed organization and project management skills.
**Accountabilities**:
- Ensure exceptional, student-focused customer service and the success of staff and department by providing training, coaching and monitoring of staff work and workloads
- Ensures that all revenues, expenditures, assets and liabilities related to tuition revenues are recorded accurately and on a timely basis
- Provides analysis that may be included in reports for senior management and governing bodies
- Provides information required for external audits
- Researches, develops and recommends policy changes related to tuition payment and collection
- Provides guidance, instruction and expert advice regarding interpretation and updating of tuition policies, procedures and guidelines
- Ensures bad debt risk is minimized through effective management of credit and collection functions
- Develops training, communication and presentation materials related to student account management and tuition collection initiatives and policy/procedural issues
- Remains current with industry best practice and professional knowledge, particularly in the areas of accounting regulatory requirements
- Contributes to strategies related to increasing the financial literacy of students
- Other projects related to student finance and financial assistance as required
**Qualifications**
**Education**: A post-secondary degree in accounting and a professional accounting designation is required, although an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
**Skills**: Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; ability to deal with complex accounting issues; proficient computer skills with the ability to understand complex student and other information systems. Well-developed project management skills, including coordinating staffing, setting project goals and priorities, overseeing appropriate training, assigning work and ensuring goals are met; ability to persuade, combined with interpersonal sensitivity that includes anticipating how decisions or actions may be perceived by others; ability to take initiative and provide leadership in a variety of settings; and the ability to negotiate and compromise, while embracing a variety of perspectives. The position requires the ability to organize a multitude of tasks, manage time and competing priorities, conduct research, analyze data and make recommendations for change.

**Salary**: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $69,035.00 - 107,868.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
