**I. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**
The Lead Auditor’s principal responsibility is to perform internal or external audits involving various Quality Programs implemented within Aecon Industrial and at Aecon Industrial’s suppliers. This applies to the main office facility as well as construction project sites.

The Lead Auditor’s principal responsibilities shall include the following:
a) Planning for the execution of internal audits, supplier audits or Aecon Nuclear Site audits, and the preparation and completion of Audit Plans, Audit Schedules, Audit Checklists, and Audit Reports, as directed.

b) Submission of the completed Audit Checklist, Audit Report, and any resultant findings and/or observations created during the auditing activity to the Auditing Supervisor for review and approval.

c) The Lead Auditor shall also expedite the closure of all corrective actions initiated, and notify the Corrective Action Specialist, for upload into Aecon’s EDMS.

As a Lead Auditor, this position reports directly to the Auditing Supervisor and indirectly to the Quality Director, Nuclear.

Ensure independence of any direct responsibility for performance of the activities being audited and have sufficient authority and organizational freedom to make the audit process meaningful and effective.

**II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Perform internal quality program audits including Project Site audits in accordance with applicable quality program manuals, procedures, and work instructions
- Perform external surveys and/or audits of suppliers for approval to Aecon Industrial Central Division Approved Supplier List.
- The Lead auditor is to provide Audit Plans, Audit Reports including Observations and all Audit Findings to the Audit Supervisor for review and approval.
- Preparation and distribution of internal and supplier audit plans, audit reports.

**III. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Generating, tracking, follow up, and providing assistance with the closure of internal and external audit corrective actions.
- Support QA/QC activities for the Fabrication and various Construction SBU’s

**IV. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- As a Lead Auditor, to lead, coordinate and supervise audit duties assigned to qualified audit personnel as required.

**V. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & TRAINING NEEDS**
- Graduate of a secondary school, as a minimum
- Education in an engineering discipline (mechanical or related) at the College level preferred
- Lead Auditor Certification from an accredited training Registrar
- Minimum of three years experience as an Internal Quality Auditor and one year as a Lead Quality Auditor in an ISO 9001 Quality Program environment, as a minimum
- Minimum of five years experience in nuclear and/or non-nuclear fabrication/construction industry in a quality assurance role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good leadership and organizational skills
- Computer literate in MS Office
- ASME BP&V Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Construction Codes including related CSA N285, N286 and CSA N299, and NQA-1 Code experience
- Quality systems training experience

**VI. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY**
- Not to exceed department budgets

**VII. EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT**
- Meets with multiple Aecon personnel in various departments located at the main office and at various project sites
- Meets with various supplier personnel
- Interacts with non-unionized and unionized work force

**VIII. PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
- Prolonged period of standing
- May be required to deal with difficult or uncooperative people
- Extensive reading and report generating
- Possible extensive traveling

**IX. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS**
- Due to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment
- Able to obtain security clearance for various Canadian nuclear facilities
