**Manager, Office of Vice-Dean Indigenous Health**:
**Primary Purpose**: To advance integrated, strategic planning for all matters relating to Indigenous health and engagement strategies for the Office of Vice-Dean Indigenous Health (OVDIH). The Manager, OVDIH, will provide effective, high-level support of the OVDIH planning processes, strategic priorities, and special projects, in collaboration with the Vice-Dean Indigenous Health and the College of Medicine (CoM) project management team.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Vice-Dean Indigenous Health (VDIH), this position, in collaboration with the CoM project management team, will lead and support the OVDIH strategic planning processes, implementation of strategic directions, and support the creation and implementation of the core foundations to launch the Division of Indigenous Health. This position requires a high level of discretionary decision-making, strong relationship building skills, and professional judgement. The incumbent will manage multiple projects with competing timelines in a fast-paced, complex environment where the impact of error is significant. Priorities may vary depending on the sensitivity and urgency of assignments. The environment in which this position operates can be highly political and the Manager must be responsive to the diverse cultural needs of Indigenous communities. This position routinely works with highly confidential and sensitive information.

**Accountabilities**:

- Leads, manages, and supports assigned projects with VDIH, working groups, committees, colleges and schools, and key stakeholders to facilitate progress toward the launch of the Division of Indigenous Health
- In support of senior leaders, develops project plans to advance the implementation of strategic directions, plans, priorities, and projects within the OVDIH
- Completes concurrent projects in a timely manner, within established deadlines, in a format appropriate to the specific target audience, proactively mapping project timelines and ensuring progress towards those timelines, and providing regular reports to project leadership, and senior leadership as required
- Supports the development and implementation of strategic and integrated planning processes, researching background and preparing documentation, and works with the VDIH to monitor progress toward goals
- Identifies, manages, delegates, and/or addresses issues and challenges for which the VDIH needs to be aware, making recommendations for consideration and approval
- Supports and facilitates the integration of planning, resource allocation and operational effectiveness functions through collaborative activities and initiatives with other members of the OVDIH and project management team and by providing input and feedback on select projects, in support of the VDIH
- Supports the OVDIH in the creation of new academic programs through the university’s governing bodies
- Coordinates information, presents and communicates financial and other quantitative and qualitative data
- Supports the development of appropriate processes and methodologies for evaluation of progress toward priorities, ensuring alignment of budget and reports with information requirements for decision-making and resource allocation
- Conducts background research on, and prepares documents in support of OVDIH decision-making, resource allocation, and performance measurement. Presents reports (including confidential information) to the VDIH, and senior leaders, including briefing notes, statistical information, methodological summaries, and discussion summaries.
- Provides coordination and support to senior administrators, faculty, and staff within the OVDIH and broader university community to enable progress toward the creation and implementation of the core foundations to launch the Division of Indigenous Health
- Works closely with the University Secretary’s office to navigate process and issues related to governance, University Council, Committees of Council, etc.
- Other duties as assigned

**Education**: A master’s degree in the social sciences, humanities, business, or related discipline, and a professional designation in project management. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

**Experience**: 5-8 years related experience in progressively responsible roles within a public, post-secondary, or similarly complex organization. Experience in strategic planning or business planning and knowledge of institutional governance and the health sciences would be considered assets.

**Skills**: Discretionary decision-making ability; Superior time management skills to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines; Demonstrated strong leadership, diplomacy, organizational, analytical and consensus-building skills are required; Highly organized with polished presentation, written, and interpersonal skills.
