Job Description: Prep Cook

There's a new restaurant coming to Truro We are currently under renovations and we are looking to be up and running the beginning of September.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Prepare and measure ingredients according to standardized recipes and portion sizes.

2. Assist in chopping, dicing, slicing, and performing other basic food preparation tasks to support the kitchen staff.

3. Wash, peel, and trim vegetables and fruits as required.

4. Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and hygienic work environment.

5. Organize and stock ingredients and supplies, ensuring proper storage and rotation.

6. Assist in assembling and portioning ingredients for use during service.

7. Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure efficient workflow and timely preparation of food items.

8. Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations.

9. Support the kitchen staff in various tasks as needed, such as plating and garnishing.

10. Adhere to all safety and health regulations while handling food and kitchen equipment.

**Requirements**:
1. Previous experience as a Prep Cook or similar role in a professional kitchen environment is a plus.

2. Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.

3. Familiarity with food safety and sanitation guidelines.

4. Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.

5. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

6. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

7. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in the food service industry.

8. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

9. Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary.

10. A positive attitude and willingness to learn and take on new tasks.

**Salary**: $15.00-$16.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- Prep Cook/Kitchen: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Food Handler Certification (preferred)
