Corporate Strategy Associate

**The Role**:
The Strategy Associate leads and supports a variety of strategic initiatives inclusive of playing a pivotal role in developing the annual and long-term strategic plans for each of the Samuel Business Units (BUs). This position is crucial to the business’ ability to establish its short, medium, and long-term plans in a dynamic and capital-intensive industry.
The Corporate Strategy Associate is responsible for the development and oversight of the BU’s corporate strategies in order to support growth objectives and capital allocation decisions while strengthening the business core to develop and/or maintain a competitive advantage in its chosen markets.
Success in this role demands a strong strategic and analytical orientation coupled with exceptional communication and research skills as well as a highly developed collaborative nature.
**Day to Day Expectations include**:

- Deliver projects or major project work streams related to Samuel’s corporate strategy or corporate initiatives - from shaping to successful implementation
- Structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues
- Develop rigorous, fact based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations. Ensure strategic and financial soundness and alignment for recommendations
- Work closely with BUs and HQ management teams on strategic projects, bringing timely and useful insight and analytical support
- Communicate recommendations to senior management in a clear, concise, and impactful way
- Work with the Corporate Development team to shape and inform our approach to M&A and strategic partnerships to execute the corporate strategy
- Monitor the evolution of the Steel and Metals industry, competitive landscape, new technology developments and regulatory environment
- Travel Requirement 25-50% of the time

**Experience, Education & Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Economics, Math is preferrable
- MBA Graduate from a leading university would be beneficial
- Outstanding record of academic achievement with excellent strategy development skills
- Professional experience in a Strategy role - Management Consulting or Corporate Strategy
- Excellent understanding of Industrials/Manufacturing Sector and experience in delivering large scale projects
- Ability to deliver complex cross-enterprise projects with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor, attention to detail and ability to carry out sophisticated financial models
- Strong work ethic, proactively manages multiple high priority projects and works effectively in a team
- Demonstrates versatility to complete ad hoc requests and projects under tight time constraints and deadlines
- Personal presence and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior executives
- Self-starter, results-focused, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible
- International work experience or exposure to working in an international company would be viewed favorably
