Job Title:
EDGE Skills centre has served the St. Vital community for over 30 years. EDGE Employment programs help unemployed, underemployed, low-income adults find long-term meaningful employment. We are currently looking for a Full time Employment Counsellor/Employer Liaison for EDGE Career program.

JOB BACKGROUND:
The Employment Counsellor/Employer Liaison is responsible for preparing participants for success in the workplace through career exploration, one-on-one meetings as well as workshops on a variety of topics. The Employment Counsellor/Employer Liaison will also establish and maintain excellent working relationships with employers to develop job opportunities for the participants of the Program.

**_QUALIFICATIONS: _**
- Extensive knowledge of the local labour market and current hiring practices
- Extensive knowledge of job search and marketing techniques
- Knowledge of issues facing new Canadians, low-income earners and Employment and Income Assistance recipients
- Ability to plan, develop and deliver employment
- related training and workshops
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Skilled in conflict resolution
- Experience and desire to work with persons of diverse cultural, economic and educational backgrounds
- Efficient in Microsoft Office computer programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Knowledge of adult learning principles
- KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: _
**Employment Counselling**:

- Deliver employability skills training in the areas of career exploration, job search, self-marketing, and workplace excellence.
- Identify barriers to employment and assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing résumés and preparing for job interviews
- Identify the work experience and job needs of the participants
- Meet with the participants on a frequent basis to review progress
- Participate in developing individualized action plans
- Assist with all matters related to job search information and skills
- Assist with recruitment, interview and selection process of participants
- Provide follow up support to participants
- Network with other employment focused organizations
- Attend training/employment related events
- Assist with development of publicity/information materials
- Enter data into SPRS data base
- Participate in ongoing curriculum development

**Employer Liaison**
- Proactively develop relationships with a wide range of employers to build an employer and opportunity base, particularly focusing on the key industry sectors in Winnipeg.
- Source and secure managed work placements and work experience opportunities.
- Seek out and source work opportunities at new and existing sites of employment.
- Organize and monitor work experience and on-the-job training placement.
- Work with employers to identify and assess skills necessary to convert work placements into permanent employment opportunities.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of the local labour market and skills gaps, using this knowledge to help identify sector specific pathways to meet employers’ needs.
- Generate employment opportunities for individuals through effective job matching, job search and the provision of interview preparation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employer database and participant records.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all manual and online reports in line with funders’ requirements.
- Assist with other responsibilities as required

**Salary**: $52,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
