The Quality Assurance & Food Safety Specialist on the Food Service team serves as the primary leader for all Food Service Concepts’ food safety programs; collaborating with cross-functional team members, vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure that the safe food preparation standards and requirements of M&M Food Market / Parkland Corp. are upheld.

**Responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to**:
- Contributes to development and execution of product food safety and quality programs to support the organization’s goals of operational excellence, customer/client satisfaction, financial performance, and market leadership.
- Responsible for developing and on-going maintenance of the Food Safety Plan. Must be able to identify deficiencies and implement new strategies.
- Ensures all HACCP, GMP’s, sanitation preventive controls, supply chain preventive controls and all other prerequisite food safety standards are met according to governing regulatory bodies and corporate requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations and Facilities on action plans for continuous improvement.
- Provide support and expertise to retail stores and internal departments for resolution of issues including health department inquiries and concerns, and other emergency situations as may be needed.
- Maintain current and accurate nutritional and allergen information for menu items.
- Support Product Recalls impacting Food Service Operations.
- Monitor food supplier documentation compliance and ensure QA systems are current.
- Conduct periodic specification adherence audits (either internally or via third party laboratories) to ensure products are compliant.
- Individual Contributor, but may closely manage many outside vendors and/or projects with significant impact on the business.
**So, are you our next Quality Assurance and Food Safety Specialist? You could be if you have**:
- University Degree/College Diploma or equivalent in Environmental Health, Public Health, Biology, or other hard science equivalent.
- Experience in the food service industry with responsibility in food safety, training, and development of written materials.
- Knowledge and understanding of retail food safety principals and regulations
- Ability to efficiently organize and manage multiple projects to on-time completion with mínimal supervision.
- **Good Presentation Skills**: Ability to make clear and concise business presentations for executive and senior management.
- **Communication Skills**: Provide actionable reporting of projects and program status via written reports as well as ability to critique and provide feedback on food safety and sanitation performance in a non-threatening and coaching manner.
- **Interpersonal Skills**: demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build productive relationships with various groups to include internal risk management, restaurant operators, research & development team, vendors, and regulatory officials.
