We are growing and looking to employ an experienced, reliable and energetic full time Medical Office Assistant for our busy office of Family Physicians. Our team consists of 8 family doctors, 3 physician assistants, 2 nurses, 5 full time and 2 part time office assistants/receptionists. We also have many medical learners (medical students, residents, nursing students) that contribute to our delivery of exceptional health care. Medical Office Assistant Responsibilities:
**Responsibilities will include but not limited to**:

- Greeting patients and checking them in in a timely, professional, and friendly manner.
- Booking appointments, managing schedules, preparing documents, managing messages/completing tasks.
- Answering a multi-line telephone, triaging, transferring calls or taking and sending electronic in office messages.
- Maintaining confidential electronic medical records and appropriately documenting in them.
- Billing and collecting payments from patients for non-OHIP-covered services.
- Faxing, scanning and uploading medical documents into the EMR and messaging the appropriate physician(s) to review it.
- Rooming patients, including measuring weights and vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen) and documenting in patient chart.
- Unpacking supplies and stocking rooms.
- Organizing lab samples for shipping.
- Cleaning equipment and laundry duties
- Supporting physicians, nurses, and the administrative team.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and as a valuable member in a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task, manage interruptions, distractions and changing priorities in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle difficult situations while remaining calm.
- Ability to adhere to confidentiality policies.
- Ability to work on-site in appropriate PPE and ability to follow protocols.
- Punctual, courteous, professional and positive attitude.

**Preferred Requirements**:

- Completion of relevant health-related community college program (ie: Medical Office Assistant).
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous experience in a medical environment is an asset.
- Previous experience with patient booking systems and EMR programs (Experience with Telus Practice Solutions considered an asset).
- Proficiency in an alternate language is an asset.

**Additional notes**:
It is our policy to keep both our staff, patients and clients safe while in our office. As such, our office health policy includes up to date vaccinations for our staff (primary COVID series, annual flu, etc.) COVID-19 directives are followed, including but not limited to, proper use/wear of PPE and cleaning protocols.

**Salary**: $19.50-$21.50 per hour
