**Overview**:

In this role, you’ll be able to choose between a fixed or flexible schedule, within Pegasus operating hours.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support participants (emotionally, physically, or as-needed) in activities at program sites and around the community. This may include hygiene-related supports.
- Follow established policies & procedures when carrying out your duties to ensure the health and safety of participants, staff, and the community.
- Assist participants in achieving the goals they set for themselves in their annual review
- Communicate with participants, their families/caregivers, and community members in a positive and professional way
- Advocate on behalf of the participants in an appropriate manner
- Training will be provided to perform specialized tasks where applicable
- Work alongside team members, as well as community center staff, to maintain a positive work environment
- Cooperate in maintaining complete and confidential records for each participant
- Attend and participate in staff meetings as required. Active participation is encouraged as staff feedback is highly valued.

**Qualifications**:

- Current student or graduate of a Post-Secondary program in Developmental Disabilities or related field from an accredited institution
- Some work/volunteer experience supporting people with developmental disabilities, or related work. Experience with adults is preferred.
- Certified in First Aid/CPR, and Safe Management (or CPI), or a willingness to obtain these certifications upon employment
- Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance issued by local police station no more than 3 months old or willing to obtain one
- An inclusive mindset towards people with disabilities is necessary
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team. You will be in a team-oriented environment, but you should be able to work with mínimal supervision when needed
- You should have a willingness to learn and actively participate in activities. These might include sewing, crafting, drawing/painting, cooking, etc. You don’t have to be skilled at these things, just be willing to support, learn, and participate
- Ability to safely perform lifts/transfers (training provided)
- Willingness to participate in sports/physical activities, including swimming, skating etc.
- Once you’ve received training, you should be able and willing to perform specialized tasks such as medication administration

**Location & Hours**:

- Our program sites are in Toronto’s East End (Beaches/Leslieville/Scarborough areas) and are all transit-accessible
- Program hours are: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm. The occasional Saturdays 9:30 am
- 2:30pm. Shifts will vary within program hours depending on need/availability. No shifts are available outside of program hours.
- Between 10-20 hours a week on average; hours will vary on a flexible schedule. More hours may be available in the future.
- Open availability preferred for at least 2 weekday shifts if possible. Reasonable accommodations to shift schedules can be discussed.
- Occasionally might be asked to work outside of program hours (with reasonable notice given) in case of a team meeting or under special circumstances.
