Pathology and Laboratory Medicine - Laboratory Test Centre VH

Reporting to the Coordinator, Phlebotomists are responsible for the pre-analytical process of ordering/activating lab orders, collecting adult and paediatric quality blood samples by means of venipuncture. They are responsible for ensuring best practice guidelines are followed and adhered to as per PaLM policy and procedures. Sample quality affects lab results which in turn has a direct impact on treatment and diagnosis.

Temporary Patrt-Time

Rate of Pay: $28.37 per hour - $34.45 per hour

Hours: 22 hours per week (no guarantee of hours)

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of a one (1) year Phlebotomy Certificate or Medical Lab Assistant Diploma
- Successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Professionals' Association of Ontario (MLPAO) or Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science Certification (CSMLS) preferred
- Minimum one (1) year recent Phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced environment; three (3) years preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency with computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, Cerner)
- Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrated strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose, and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis-
