**Role Description**
The Addictions Liaison Counsellor at Peel Addiction Assessment and Referral Centre (PAARC) works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical treatment planning, support, referral, outpatient therapeutic counselling, and case management. This role involves spending two days on site at Trillium Health Partners and three days in the community. The role will provide stabilization services, individual counselling, case management, community education, and uphold the mission to deliver quality services for people with addictions and concurrent disorders as they transition from impatient to community-based care.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Conduct intake, screening, comprehensive assessments, and treatment planning using various tools and methods appropriate to the addictions and mental health sectors.
- Provide therapeutic counselling, case management, and client support, including crisis intervention and facilitating structured groups.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality, while also advocating for client rights and treatment options.
**Additional Accountabilities**:
- Initiating and maintaining client files and documentation as per legal and best practice guidelines.
- Participating in continuing education, team meetings, and PAARC all-staff events.
- Contributing to the development, operation, and evaluation of the program, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of community resources and organizational policies.
**Skills and Competencies**:
- Proficiency in various therapeutic counselling modalities and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to work within an anti-racism, anti-oppression framework and uphold PAARC's values and ethical standards.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum Education Required: Master’s degree in human services (from an accredited and reputable educational institution) or in active progress.
- Minimum Years of Experience: Experience in working with persons with substance use and concurrent disorder care needs.
- Designations: Stage Screening and Assessment Certification, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid Certification.
**Working Conditions**:
- Regular hours with flexibility required; involves physical actions like mínimal lifting, standing, walking, reaching, and bending.
- Work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, unsanitary conditions, and varying environmental conditions.
- Requires travel to various service or meeting locations within the Region of Peel, including driving in all seasonal weather conditions.
Pay: $53,118.00-$62,492.00 per year
