Do you have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a cook in a full-service restaurant? Are you looking for a gig in a fun environment with a supportive team? Does a seasonal (October to March) business like ours match up with your personal schedule?
We are looking for a cook to work in our kitchen to support our Executive Chef on days off and to work occasional special events.
**Core Responsibilities**
- **Food preparation and cooking (daily service)**. Prepare ingredients and cook a variety of dishes from our pub-like menu (handhelds, salads, soups, pizza, nachos, wings, etc)
- **Food preparation and cooking (event service)**. Prepare ingredients and cook a variety of dishes from our event menu (roast beef, roast chicken, lasagna, vegetables, etc.)
- **Sanitation and safety**. Comply with sanitation and food safety guidelines, including proper food handling, storage and cleaning equipment and work stations.
- **Kitchen organization**. Maintain a clean, organized and efficient work station and overall kitchen environment.
- **Quality control**. Ensure dishes are of a high quality, meet established standards for taste and presentation and adhere to club recipes.
**Key Skills and Qualifications**
- **Cooking techniques**. Proficiency in various cooking techniques, such as grilling, braising, roasting and deep-frying.
- **Attention to detail**. Excellent attention to detail for plating, presentation and recipe adherence.
- **Communication skills**. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with other food and beverage staff and management.
- **Ability to work independently**. Demonstrated track record of working alone in the kitchen with no supervision.
- **Ability to work under pressure**. Capacity to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, particularly during league play when up to 48 curlers come off the ice at one time every two hours.
- **Food and safety knowledge**. Knowledge of food safety guidelines and the proper use of kitchen equipment.
**Experience**
- At least two years’ experience in a full service restaurant.
**Language**
- English - required
**Licenses/Certifications**
- Food Handler Certification (or equivalent) - preferred
**Job Types**: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 5 months
Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 per week
