The Molnar Group is a well-respected and established real estate investment and development company with over 50 years of experience in the industry. We are currently building a 142 unit apartment complex in Nanaimo.

**Position Summary**:The CSO and Site Administrator will provide technical, administrative and site safety support to the Site Superintendent in all aspects of the site construction, sub-trade safety conduct, safety equipment, work methods, regulation, training and project site safety including COVID-19 regulations and requirements.

**Responsibilities**:

- Review physical, biological and chemical workplace hazards and report on a daily basis
- Conduct safety and environmental audits and report on a daily basis to the Site Superintendent
- Investigate health-and-safety-related complaints, spills of hazardous chemicals, outbreaks of diseases or poisonings, and workplace accidents per WorkSafe BC requirements
- Inspect workplaces to ensure that equipment, materials and production processes do not present a safety or health hazard to employees or the general public daily per WorkSafe BC requirements
- Develop, implement and evaluate health and safety programs and strategies monthly and report to the Site Superintendent
- Actively monitor and influence work progress to ensure compliance with health and safety expectations
- Review and approve safety equipment purchases required for the project, recommend more efficient ways to execute jobs tasks with better methods
- Document progress in daily progress and safety reports
- Maintain daily logs for weather conditions, recording trades on site, record number of workers for each trade and guests on site,
- Provide site orientations to new workers/visitors to the site
- Monitor compliance to safety procedures and policies
- Educate workers on safety standards and best practices
- Develop and maintain Safe Work Procedures & Job Hazard Assessments
- Initiate and supports incident response, notification, and investigation activities
- Conduct Toolbox, JOSH and Site Safety meetings for site staff weekly
- Take action as required to immediately correct unsafe acts or conditions
- Communicate safety requirements to everyone on site
- Greets visitors/answers the phone, handles their inquiries, directs them to the appropriate persons, takes and delivers messages.
- Timekeeping for all employees on site, including roll call, tracking of hours, and completing and submitting time sheets.
- Manages all aspects of new hire paperwork. May perform site safety orientations for new hires, sub-contractors, and visitors if trained to do so.
- Controls documents, files, and maintains current drawings and specifications.
- Manages the submission of reports, inspections, training documents, receipts, meeting notes, jobsite photos, etc. to the corporate office.
- Ensures office is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Places orders with local suppliers as needed.
- Completes errands such as purchasing tools and supplies, picking up the mail, etc.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Superintendent.

**Requirements & Qualifications**:

- Certified Construction Safety Officer
- OFA Level 2 (minimum)
- Knowledge and understanding of WorkSafe regulations
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills to maintain records and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
- Ability to take direction from the Site Superintendent
- Interpersonal communication skills to instill site safety to trades and on-site personnel
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with the team while also being self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Must be comfortable in a construction environment. Previous construction experience or general knowledge of construction practices, tools, etc. preferred.

**Typical Physical Demands**:Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. A normal range of hearing and vision is required.

**Working Conditions**:Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Requires wearing protective and/or safety equipment. Requires working outdoors exposed to all weather conditions.

**Salary**: $20.00-$33.00 per hour
