Trading Manager

**The Opportunity**: Reporting to the Director, International Sales, the Trading Manager - Mexico position is responsible for direct pork sales to key customers in Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean. The incumbent will be responsible for buy and sell activities to core markets and co-ordination of external/trader broker sales.
**Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life**:

- Work closely with MLF’s Optimization team to ensure smooth flow of product into Mexico and other core markets focusing on opportunities and maximize value to the Company.
- Manage and develop a sustainable customer base for our fresh and frozen products in core markets.
- Achieve best possible return for MLF products by utilizing our customer base to generate superior price discovery.
- Identify and execute external sourcing and sales (buy / sell) opportunities.
- Work closely with Mexico credit supervisor to manage customer’s A/R accounts to keep them in good credit standing.
- Maintain a good working relationship with Finance and Logistics departments to ensure on-time shipment and arrivals of our products.
- Identify and maximize our fresh in combo business where it makes more sense to do so rather than box/freeze.
- Participate in daily market calls and provide synopsis of local market trends.
- Daily communication to trading houses for non-strategic Mexican, South American can Caribbean customers and to benchmark market pricing and communicate it to the optimizers.
- Work with CPI and other trade organizations to gather market information and identify emerging business opportunities in Mexico, South America, and Caribbean.
- Manage product claims, inventory, and vendor payments.

**What You’ll Bring**:

- Post-secondary education in business, business administration or supply chain and logistics preferred
- Ability to build relationships and cater message to various levels in the organization (Master Data, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain)
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with excellent presentation and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while being proactive and performance driven
- Strategic thinking skills with the ability to understand strategic priorities
- Highly motivated; capable of delivering winning results work and able to work collaboratively with others
- Ability to travel to various customers on a regular basis to be in tune with the market, perform reviews and provide internal updates on our products as well as those of the competition.
- Ability to adapt to working hours in various time zones; willing to handle work outside of normal office working hours when required.
- Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite; experience within an SAP environment is an asset
