The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for a student Licensing Assistant in the Licensing Services division. This position would start approximately April 28, 2025, for a period up to August 29, 2025.

**Job description**

The Licensing Assistant Student provides customer and clerical support to licensing services.

**Essential responsibilities**
- Demonstrate Chatham-Kent’s core values and competencies
- Provide clerical support to Licensing Services, including:

- Phone inquiries
- Walk-in inquiries
- Filing of business licences and lottery licenses
- Data entry
- Updating dog database
- Provide customer service for licensing
- File management
- Assist in coverage of office counter during vacations, lunch hours, etc.

**Essential qualifications**
- Preference will be given to students currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution
- Excellent customer service experience in an office/business environment, with good people skills on the telephone and in person
- Experience working in an office environment
- Must be a team player as well as have initiative
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to work independently, as well as participate as part of a team
- Working knowledge of CityView and OnPoint (or similar programs)
- Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) (or similar software program)

**Work environment/hours of work**
- This position works indoors
- This position works weekday hours

**COVID-19 Vaccination**

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent no longer requires a COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment. Although it is not mandatory to be vaccinated, it is highly encouraged.

**Essential physical and/or safety requirements**
- Walking: constant walking on level surface (walk through the building department where all surfaces are level)
- Sitting: constant sitting in a chair (sitting at desk)
- Standing: frequent standing inside (waiting on customers)
- Hands: constant mousing (move mouse on the computer)
