**Corporate Communications Specialist** **The Position** Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this position will be responsible for coordination of all corporate communications, internal and external for STC. This will include the development of an internal newsletter to staff, community member nations and other stakeholders, manage social media, digital communications and coordination of media/press releases, Q&A and positive media relations. The position will be responsible for promoting and protecting STC’s brand/corporate image and for leading innovative internal communications on various digital platforms. The position will work with staff, stakeholders and partnership relations. Develops creative, compelling, thoughtful and impactful content. **Responsibilities**: - Develops strategies to boost STC’s brand internally and externally. - Writing and editing content for STC’s promotional materials and digital communications. - Develop and implement strategic communications plans, internal newsletter and other corporate reports that align with STC corporate objectives and priorities. - Proactively contributes and collaborates with other STC departments, experts and partners to ensure relevant content is promoted at the optimal time on the most effective channels. - Helps to drive communications by pushing key strategic messages into written content. - Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and teams to ensure any content writing requests are fulfilled without errors or misinformation. - Monitors the brand reputation and discussions relating to the organization in media spaces while being able to respond to audiences on time. - Writes, edits content for spokespeople, media, stakeholders, partners and other audiences. - Creates timely and engaging content that is optimized for whatever platform it will be published on. - Managing, planning, and coordinating media events - Develop media plans, organize media conferences, write media releases, prepare spokesperson materials, and liaise with the media as required. - Develop social media plans and manage social media channels. - Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness - Contributes to the development and implementation of user guidelines, tools, and best practices for - effective use of social media. - Perform other related duties as defined and assigned by the reporting Director or designate on an as and when required basis. **Education and Experience**: - A completed Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, business, or other related degree. - Three (3) years’ experience in a formal communications role with demonstrated experience in communications planning and media relations. - Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write for a wide range of audiences. - Social media management experience; corporate or visual identity (brand) monitoring expertise. - Strong interpersonal skills with proven track record of collaboration, meeting deadlines and managing relationships with diverse client groups. - Experience working within a governance structure in a community development capacity with First Nations; familiarity with First Nations culture, history is considered an asset. **Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities**: - Knowledge of communication industry trends, best practices and standards - Knowledgeable of social media tools and how to use them to deliver key messaging and brand awareness. - Ability to write communication materials such as new releases, key messages, briefing notes, speaking notes, print and online copy - Strong attention to detail, with exceptional written and editing skills - Ability to communicate with different mediums to various audiences - Exceptional time management, prioritization and organizational skills - Strong research, analytical, decision making and the ability to recognize challenges, identify causes and provide solutions. - Dependability: able to work independently, submit accurate documentation, and seek guidance when needed - Receptive: accept feedback, take ownership of responsibilities, and identifies areas of growth - Interpersonal Skills: communicates clearly, seek solutions, and demonstrates flexibility - Integrity: keep sensitive information confidential and adheres to STC’s policies - Initiative: seeks opportunities for further development **Working Environment**:Standard office environment; regular travel (as required) **Physical Demands**:Freedom of movement; Keyboarding (>2 hrs at a time); ability to take breaks as necessary; Driving and sensory demands **Health and Safety**: **Rights**:All Saskatoon Tribal Council employees have the right to information on potential hazards in the workplace, the right to participate in Occupational Health and Safety decisions, use personal protective equipment and clothing as directed by the employer and the ri
