**Rate of Pay: $22.12 per hour**

**Duration: May 1, 2025 to August 31, 2025**

**Closing Date: February 6, 2025**

The John M. Parrott Centre is a fully accredited state-of-the-art, 168 bed long term care home, owned and operated by the County of Lennox and Addington, in the Town of Greater Napanee. The John M. Parrott Centre offers free parking, a safe work environment, and upgraded technology. We are currently seeking highly motivated and energetic students for the position of Environmental Services Worker for the summer.

**QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE**:

- Must have completed or be in the process of completing secondary school (or equivalent), with an interest in pursuing further education or a career in the healthcare, hospitality or facility management fields
- No prior cleaning experience is required, though any familiarity with general cleaning, maintenance, or previous volunteer experience would be considered an asset
- A keen interest in healthcare, housekeeping, and maintaining a clean, safe environments, with a willingness to learn and develop skills in infection control and cleaning best practices
- Completion of a housekeeping-related course or certification is an asset, but not a requirement
- Ability to perform cleaning and housekeeping tasks with a focus on attention to detail, safety, and cleanliness
- Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory criminal record check
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
- A strong desire for professional growth and development, with an openness to learning new skill
- Registered or intends to return to post-secondary education or apprenticeship. (e.g., healthcare, facility management, hospitality or trades)

**DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION**:

- Assist with general housekeeping duties throughout the facility, following proper infection control practices to maintain a clean and safe environment for residents and staff
- Learn to clean and maintain various floor surfaces, including hard floors and carpets, and assist with deep cleaning tasks
- Gain experience in specialized cleaning procedures, including precautionary, isolation, and outbreak management, with guidance and training from senior staff
- Assist with waste disposal, including safe waste handling and recycling
- Contribute to deep cleaning projects such as wall washing, window cleaning, and preparing rooms for new admissions or discharges
- Participate in basic maintenance tasks (e.g., home-type repairs) and assist with general facility upkeep as required
- Support resident care activities where appropriate, providing assistance under supervision and developing an understanding of the healthcare environment
- Assist with laundry duties, including gathering, sorting, and processing linens and personal clothing
- Work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays, and be available for call in shifts as needed
- Maintain a satisfactory attendance record and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and improvement in all areas of the job
