**Vice President Operations - Western Canada / Civil & Mining**
The Vice President Operations is entirely responsible for their regional profit centre by directing all operations through complete business leadership to meet strategic objectives for growth and operational excellence, while prioritizing our human capital.
To achieve this, the Vice President Operations will oversee all administrative functions at the regional office, while prioritizing team cohesion and communication. As a substantial business development contributor, the Vice President Operations will lead regional bids and proposals and lead all project implementation activities to successfully satisfy commitments and align business goals with operational and project budget.
His main responsibilities consist of leading EBC British-Columbia in their efforts to become a major projects leader in the province.
**RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS**
**Operational management**
- Effectively plan, organize, manage, and control team activities (meetings / communications / site visits).
- Diligently and keenly work with the companys internal departments.
- Lead and manage project teams in seeking and completing challenging projects.
- Successfully assess and manage risk.
- Create and promote team synergy in a collaborative environment.
- Clearly communicate roles and responsibilities to all employees.
- Oversee workload and ensure appropriate use of resources.
- Effectively manage conflicts and solve complex problems.
- Oversee efficient transfer of information between the Proposals department and construction teams.
- Actively participate in project constructability analysis.
- Promote team spirit amongst work colleagues, offices, and job sites.
- Manage project objectives and financial statuses.
- Sign contracts with subcontractors, in accordance with submitted budgets.
- Review client contracts according to company procedures and policies and submit to Executive Vice President for approval.
- Work directly with clients to ensure projects meet expectations.
- Frequently visit construction sites.
- Oversee procedure compliance.
- Optimize processes.
- Prepare annual regional budgets and mid-year forecasts.
- Manage all Health & Safety components.
- Oversee quality management implementation and monitoring.
**Human Capital Management**
- Interest and ability to mentor and coach others.
- Manage and negotiate salaries, bonuses and oversee team payroll.
- Actively participate in career development of subordinate team and managers through training, development goals, and performance reviews.
- Identify, attract, and retain top talent.
- Mentor and develop staff and plan succession in project management, leadership, company culture and corporate values.
**Strategic Planning**
- Develop short and long-term strategic plans for the company aiming for growth and operational excellence.
- Support new market initiatives, new business opportunities through optimal use of resources/assets, current industry trends and group competitiveness.
- Remain attentive to our strengths when strategizing objectives
- Direct our strengths towards our strategic objectives.
**Business Development**
- Establish and maintain strategic business relationships with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Seek advance knowledge of upcoming projects and strategically plan business alliances (team, association, exclusivity, etc.).
- Lead, collaborate and/or develop offer of services and proposals.
- Possess strong interviewing and business development skills with potential customers.
- Identify and assist by leading new business opportunities, presentations, attend client conferences and dinners.
**POSITION BENCHMARKS**
