Consultant - Economic Consulting & Advisory

Reporting to Peter Norman, Vice President & Chief Economist, the Consultant will provide clients across Canada with market research, policy analysis and strategic advice focused on commercial and industrial properties and markets. The focus of this position will be in the preparation of commercial and industrial market and feasibility studies. The Consultant will be expected to prepare consulting reports, with the assistance of junior staff, with limited direction or need for review.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing accurate consulting reports using the latest information obtained from various internal and external sources;
- Continuously upgrading knowledge regarding macro, real estate and industry trends;
- Continuously upgrading knowledge regarding key government policies at the federal, provincial and municipal levels in Canada affecting real estate development;
- Overseeing the efficient maintenance of databases and models;
- Working cooperatively with team members across the organization
- Coaching, training and mentoring junior staff
- Establishing profile within relevant industry, trade and professional associations.
Key Requirements:
- Post-graduate university degree in economics or a related discipline
- 1 year of experience within the real estate or development industry would be considered an asset
- Excellent research, quantitative and analytical skills
- Experienced project manager
- Excellent communication skills and writing skills in order to complete consulting reports
- Ability to take initiative and be resourceful
- Ability to multi task and meet tight deadlines
- Maintain and expand strong business relationships with external market participants
- Focused on delivering high levels of quality with respect to work and service to clients
- Demonstrated ability to take on responsibility and accountability for delivery of client services
- Demonstrated skills in client file management, delegation, planning and organization
