**Job Description**:
**_CARE AND BE CARED FOR - THIS IS YOUR HOME_**:
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Payroll Coordinator is responsible for providing expert and responsive Human Resource services to employees in the areas of salary and payroll administration. The Payroll Coordinator will take the lead in one or more Human Resources programs or special projects as assigned. They will act as the back up to cover HR Coordinator, Benefits and Pension and HRIS Specialist duties.

**What will you do?**
- Provide advice, assistance and facilitation to employees in the areas of salary, payroll, and position administration
- Work closely with the Scheduling Coordinators to ensure efficient and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll processes
- Work closely with the Payroll team in Finance to ensure efficient and accurate processing
- Receive and respond to queries related to salary and other employee entitlements, and resolves issues where identified
- Ensure employees banks are loaded with the appropriate allowances, and entitlements based upon position and group
- Processes bi-weekly annual and hourly based increments for unionized employees
- Provide back up to the HRIS Specialist duties with respect to the processing of new hires, employee transfers, terminations, and schedule changes in Quadrant.
- Interpret policies and collective agreements related to this portfolio for managers and employees
- Calculates annual vacation allotments for all employees
- Prepares and audits vacation, float, and management upload documents
- Ensures standard and frequently required HR/payroll reports are created and updated as needed. Runs ad-hoc reports as required
- Acts as the back-up and provides absence coverage to the HR Coordinator, Benefits and Pension an HRIS Specialist duties

**What you must have?**
- Post-secondary training in field (or equivalent combination of training and experience)
- Professional payroll certification/designation preferred or enrollment in payroll certification program
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a payroll role required
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in progressively responsible Human Resource roles in a unionized environment
- Experience with an HRIS/payroll system
- Membership in HRPAO preferred
- CHRL designation or progress towards its achievement preferred

**Hours of work**:
Monday -Friday, 8:30 - 4:30, 37.5 hours/ week

Position is primarily remote however there are on-site requirements (Hamilton)

**Salary Range**:
$57,919.15 to $69,159.48 annually
