CNC Machinist

1. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables 2. Sets up and operates 5-axis CNC machine center using controls to adjust feeds and speeds. 3. Enters program data into CNC control unit of 5-axis CNC machine for various operations needed to complete the job. 4. Examines work piece, selects work holding arrangement, and plans sequence of machining operations. 5. Compute dimensions, work within tolerances, able to measure and lay out work pieces 6. Positions, sets-up, and secures work pieces to table and/or angle plates, using clamps, shims, parallel blocks and bolts. 7. Verifies alignment of work pieces with center of machine spindle. 8. Verifies proper pick-up and does quick dimensional check before proceeding with work to be done. 9. Selects and mounts proper cutting tools in machine spindle. 10. Checks and verifies machining operation at each step of the process using various measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, telescoping gauges, calipers, fixed gauges, and dial indicators. 11. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. 12. Operates overhead crane system using chains, eyebolts, slings, etc. as necessary to move work pieces or other materials when, where, and as required in the safest manner possible. 13. Sharpens cutting tools using bench or pedestal grinder and is knowledgeable in the use of "Deckel Grinder" for sharpening specialized tooling. 14.Performs regular inspection and maintenance of assigned machine and completes inspection/check sheets. 15. Reports ineffective tooling, machine problems, to immediate supervisor. 16. Maintain, Repair and calibrate machine tools, parts and measuring instruments. 17.
