**Location**: Citadel Middle School (1265 Citadel Dr, Port Coquitlam)**Term**: Temporary, Part-Time**Hours of Work**: 0-15 hours per week**Schedule**: Monday - Friday, between 8:00AM - 12:00PM- Program follows the school calendar, with no shifts over the summer, winter and spring breaks- Shifts are based on program needs and referrals, no shifts when there are no students**Rate**: $18.16 0 - 500 Hours Worked- $18.73 After 501 Hours Worked- $19.86 After 1001 Hours Worked- $20.93 After 1500+ Hours Worked**Start Date**: As soon as possible**Reports to**: Supervisor Youth Programs - Alternative Suspension**Situation**:

- The Youth Leader is an important member of the local team supporting this program in their respective Alternative Suspension service site. Reporting to the Supervisor Youth Programs-Alternative Suspension as well as the Program Leader, the Youth Leader will provide homework support, workshops, recreational support and activities during break times and help create a safe space for teens struggling with school or emotional distress.**Major Responsibilities**:

- Ensures that the program operates smoothly at the service site and ensures that the service provided to schools is of excellent quality
- Supports youth referred to the Alternative Suspension program and monitors outcomes.
- Ensures that all development and program service targets are met by implementing the programs work plan
- Delivers flexible programming based on the participating students needs in the framework of a comprehensive, preventative approach
- Build rapport and provide 1-1 coaching to program participants during a 3-5 day intervention
- Provide one to one support during academic work
- Able to manage and facilitate small groups of youth
- Maintain confidential case notes regarding students participation in the program
- Collaborates closely with the Program Leader to ensure consistency in program delivery

**Qualifications**:

- A Diploma in Social Services, Child and Youth Care, Counselling and/or a combination of related education and experience
- Experience working with youth (Middle/High School) in a school setting and/or preventative approach
- Well developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with youth participants, staff and volunteers; excellent written communication skills
- Strong communication skills and experience working with a variety of cultures and family dynamics
- Experience and sensitivity in dealing with members of different cultural and racial backgrounds, including visible and invisible dimensions of diversity
- Must be available for shifts between 8AM - 3PM on Monday - Friday
- Current Emergency First Aid/CPR-C certificate required
