Camp Counselor

**Position Summary**:
The Camp Counselor assists the camp lead, teachers and administrative staff in the operation of The Second City Training Centre Summer Camps. This is a full-time seasonal position running weekdays from July 4-September 2.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
Supervise student drop-off and pick-up every day

Keep and maintain a roster of campers, contact information, and medical info weekly

Escort students to restrooms, classrooms, and common areas for breaks and lunch

Assist and supervise students who request or are asked to take a break away from their classroom

Assist with preparing classrooms for camp, and cleaning after camp and lunch breaks (including reminding campers to dispose of their garbage and wash their hands)

Support camp teachers, other counselors, and staff in classroom behavior management

Liaise with teachers and managers if there are serious behavioural issues that need to be addressed with parents

Ensure that safety procedures are followed and that all programs are in compliance with The Second City standards, and other applicable regulations and standards

Assist campers in bringing their best selves to class and common areas at all times (including but not limited to following Covid-19 safety policies, camper behavioral expectations, and setting a good example in the camp community)

Occasionally assist teachers in demonstrating basic improv concepts and exercises

Assist in maintaining a fun and safe environment at camp

**Hours**:
Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm

**Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)**:
3 years customer service experience

Experience working with children and parents

Some familiarity with basic improv concepts and games

Proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel

Complete a background check meeting Second City standards

Desired Qualifications

CPR & First Aid certification is desired but not required

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include those associated with data entry.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
