**JOB OPPORTUNITY**:Case Worker, Greater Victoria Rent Bank*
**DAYS/HOURS OF WORK**: Full Time (30 hours per week based on a four-day work week
Mon - Thurs)
**SALARY**: $28 to $30 per hour starting wage, depending on relevant education and experience.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**: To support clients and the daily operations of the Greater Victoria Rent
Bank,* operated by the Community Social Planning Council of Greater Victoria. Rent
Bank clients are low and moderate-income residents of Greater Victoria experiencing a temporary financial crisis and at immediate risk of eviction or essential utility disconnection. Rent Bank Case Workers provide service navigation, case management, and conduct assessment of clients for low-fee, short-term loans. The Case Worker provides all aspects of program delivery including intake process, helping clients navigate community resources, providing direct case management, following up with clients, and conducting program evaluation interviews, maintaining program-related reports, statistics, and other initiatives.
**CORE DUTIES**:
- Review Pre-Assessment Forms and contacting all applicants for timely follow-up.
*When funds are available, the Community Social Planning Council also offers the Greater Victoria Housing Security Program, which offers clients grants rather than or in addition to loans. Rent Bank staff then support both Rent Bank and Housing Security clients.

- Help clients navigate community resources and government programs, including client referrals to financial, legal, housing, and health/nutritional supports.
- Work with community service providers to create networks of support for clients.
- Liaise with Ministry of Social Development & Poverty Reduction staff and financial advisors to coordinate services for mutual clients.
- Make recommendations for approval or refusal of loans to the Advisory Committee.
- Review submitted Loan Application packages and conducting follow-ups with applicants, landlords, employers, and other service providers, when needed.
- Meet 1-2 times a week with the Advisory Committee to present completed Loan
Applications and recommendations for review and approval by the Committee.
- Meet with applicants to confirm loans, finalize appropriate paperwork and negotiate repayment terms.
- Process payments and following up with successful applicants, as needed.
- Maintain and updating Client Management System and clients’ documentation files.
- Track program statistics & reports in partnership with the rent bank team.
- Conduct case management follow-up interviews and support with clients.
- Conduct program evaluation interviews and providing input on data collection.
- Participate in the larger rent bank network as facilitated by BC Rent Bank
- Work closely with the Finance team to follow up on loan and grant status.
- Other related duties as the need may arise; all Council staff contribute to maintaining a pleasant and safe office environment.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Required**
- Formal training from a recognized post-secondary institution in Social Work, Human
Services, Health Sciences, or other related programs.
- Experience providing services for at-risk and/or marginalized populations.
- Ability to function effectively in difficult and/or crisis situations.
- Comfort in working online, with strong computer and communication skills.
**Considered**
- Knowledge of local resources.
- Training in trauma informed practice and cultural sensitivity.
- Experience and formal training in program evaluation.
- Experience with IT support will be considered a bonus
