Mon Pitou Bistro & Bakery is hiring a Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Vancouver. This is a mixed-role that involves baking, packaging, dishwashing and overall kitchen operations in a fast paced environment. This is a morning position with a mandatory start time of 5am to execute the morning bake off (non-negotiable).

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare, bake and cook menu items as directed
- Proof and execute morning bake-off for fresh pastries
- Assemble sandwiches for daily sales
- Set up station before or after service
- Assist with the daily brunch service and catering orders
- Prepare meals and meal kits (vacuum seal, labelling, packaging)
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications
- Prepare products pertaining to the retail program
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and properly
- Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes such as deep clean duties
- Assist with dish washing
- Deep clean of kitchen area to maintain hygienic work environment
- Receive orders through thorough inspection and proper storage

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- Able to start at 5am mandatory (non-negotiable)
- Must be able to work at least 5 days/week
- 1 year of prep work mandatory
- Pastry and baking experience is an asset
- FoodSafe level 1 certification required
- Familiar with kitchen equipment usage
- Attentive to detail and quality while multitasking
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Reliable, punctual and independent
- Personable and level-headed
- Collaborative, dependable and self-motivated
- Holds a work permit in Canada
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
