Lux Daycare and O.S.C. is seeking a enthusiastic and qualified Early Childhood Educators, for Relief Early Childhood Educator roles. As a Relief Early Childhood Educator, you will work on an as-needed basis, providing flexibility to work when it fits your schedule. This position is ideal for those who need a flexible work arrangement while making a meaningful impact in children's lives. This role has the potential to turn permanent, and you will be the first preference to backfill a role if required. Additionally, this position can gain more hours quickly to cover any type of leave, including vacation leave. We are committed to improving our services and offering families the best care for their children.

**Responsibilities** (dependent upon role/certification):

- Support Early Childhood Educators in carrying out curriculums and programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children as per the FLIGHT framework
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
- Feed infants and toddlers (dependent upon role placement)
- Changing diapers (dependent upon role placement)
- Monitor and discuss progress and concerns of children
- Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing child directed art
- Serve snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
- Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
- Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child care programs before and after regular school hours (dependent upon role)
- Cleaning of the child care room worked in and assisting with maintenance of the common area

**Qualifications** (dependent upon role/certification):

- Prior work experience in a day care/child care field
- Fluency in English is a must
- High school diploma or equivalent
- L1, L2 or L3
- First aid, or obtaining upon hiring
- Police clearance in the vulnerable sector no older than 6 months
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Flexibility, team oriented, and excellent oral/written communication skills
- Knowledge in curriculum and program planning is considered an asset
- Any other day care or child care courses are considered an asset

All positions must go through a standard criminal record check procedure in the vulnerable sector.

Pay: $30,000.00-$55,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
