Reports to the Program Manager. The role of the Pregnancy Support Worker is to provide care and guidance for pregnant women who do not have access to appropriate resources and services that are necessary for pregnancy. The pregnancy support worker will engage with and help isolated women and/or families navigate the pregnancy and postnatal period by providing insight and advice on matters such as infant care, health promotion, life enrichment, breastfeeding, and self-care.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Support staff in navigating systems and resources.
- Assist and ensure that clients are given guidance on how to access basic needs which include but are not limited to; source of income, food, shelter, transportation, legal and medical services.
- Advocate on behalf of clients as required while also helping clients to become self-advocates.
- Maintain case management duties by assessing client needs and developing a mutual service plan while also maintaining proper collection of client data.
- Entering all necessary and relevant data into Sharepoint in a timely manner.
- In co-operation with nurses, liaise with community agencies with a view of encouraging their increased support for target populations and service delivery.
- Be actively involved in program components and activities, such as pregnancy drop-in, special events, and team meetings.
- Maintain communication with the agency and other members of the team.
- All other duties as outlined by program manager.
- BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.

**Qualifications**
- Relevant work experience and/or lived experience. Post Secondary Education in a relevant field of study is an asset.
- Knowledge of common barriers faced by street-involved women/families experiencing pregnancy and wanting to parent.
- Knowledge and understanding of poverty related issues, trends and services particularly in Edmonton is essential.
- Valid Class 5 Non GDL license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months
- Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course
