**Summary**: Under the direction, accountability and guidance, the SDVS Social Worker is responsible to provide professional clinical assessment, counselling, supportive safety planning and referral services to victims and survivors of Sexual & Domestic Violence Services (SDVS) who reside in Manitoulin Island District; and wholistic health promotion services in the form of educational and primary prevention activities. The SDVS Social Worker will collaborate, consult and send/receive referrals from relevant service providers in-house and from external organizations including primary health, schools, shelters, community, traditional, and social services as appropriate and relevant. The position is funded by the Ministry of the Attorney General. **Service Specific Responsibilities** **1. Counselling**: - Provision of supportive counselling (individual and group) and structured psychotherapy to those impacted by SDVS - Collaborate with referring agency to develop and implement treatment plans - Conduct intake, assessment, treatment planning and discharge planning with clients - Participate in group consultation with Mental Health and Addictions team at Noojmowin Teg Health Centre **2. Navigation**: - Coordinate and facilitate access to traditional healing and other cultural programming - Refer clients to external service providers and programs including but not limited to in-patient treatment centres, safe housing/shelters, legal support, and addictions support - Coordinate with the SDVS team at Noojmowin Teg for collaborative care planning **3. Community/Program Development**: - Provide culturally relevant prevention and promotion workshops related to SDVS - Participate in external partnerships to increase awareness of issues related to mental health and SDVS **General Description of Service Responsibilities** - Completion of charting and data collection within the Electronic Medical Record utilized by Noojmowin Teg Health Centre - Compilation and completion of all reports as required by funders, and other data (including quality health indicators) as developed by the organization - Adherence to policies and procedures of Noojmowin Teg Health Centre - Membership with and adherence to guidelines of regulatory college and professional counselling association - Adherence to traditional protocols and cultural sensitivity to First Nation where services are provided - First Level of reporting to Mental Health and Addiction Manager and senior administration of Noojmowin Teg Health Centre - Complete all required leave request documentation (i.e. annual leave, professional development, certified sick leave, uncertified sick leave, over-time leave, etc.). Final approval provided by Noojmowin Teg senior administration, and aligned to guidelines of Noojmowin Teg policies and procedures - Complete relevant professional development and training as provided and guided by Noojmowin Teg, the funder, or legislative requirements - Attend Noojmowin Teg staff meetings, strategic planning, annual general meeting, and other team/group requirements and wellness activities **Requirements**: **Mandatory** - Minimum of Bachelor of Social Work degree; Social service/health related degree with experience may be considered - Registration with the Ontario College of Social Work and Social Service Workers or an equivalent college - Three (3) years’ experience providing clinical service, preferably with victims of violence - Valid class “G” driver’s license and own reliable vehicle - Clear drivers’ abstract - Clear vulnerable sector criminal record check **Preferred** - Standard Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), AED, and First Aid Training - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) - Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) - Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (CPI) - Experience with charting in Electronic Medical Record’s - Anishinaabemowin speaker **Knowledge** - Knowledge of current mental health issues relevant to First Nations - Knowledge of protocols of First Nations on Manitoulin Island and surrounding areas - Knowledge of mental health services available within the Manitoulin Island catchment area - Knowledge of traditional healing practices of the Anishinabek **Skills** - Skilled in a variety of mental health assessments, treatment planning and case management - Skilled in interpersonal relations - Strong time management skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Demonstrated analytical and technical skills **Abilities** - Strong ability to prioritize, plan, organize and schedule - Ability to work with mínimal supervision - Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure; - Ability to work effectively as part of a team or as a leader when required to foster quality service to clients and to promote a good working environment. - Ability to develop practices that ensure personal safety **Work Conditions**: - Frequent sitting required - Frequent interruptions within office s
