**Position Title: Harm Reduction Outreach Worker**

Position Type: FTE

Annual Salary: $48,000 - $50,000 + medical benefits

Reporting To: Moyo Harm Reduction Outreach Manager

Location of Office: Brampton

This role is Full-Time In office.

**Summary for Harm Reduction Outreach Worker**:
We are looking for an experienced, value-driven individual to conduct outreach and provide harm reduction services directed toward people who use drugs in Peel Region, including harm reduction supply distribution, prevention activities targeted for at-risk populations, and other community outreach initiatives. The role will also involve working with the Satellite Coordinator to support our Peer Satellite Site program working with 5 peer satellite workers and an advisory panel to provide low barrier supports to harder to reach communities of people who use drugs. Reporting to the Harm Reduction Program Manager, the Harm Reduction Outreach Worker will work as part of the Harm Reduction team to provide prevention and engagement supports for people who use drugs.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct harm reduction outreach across Peel.
- Provide harm reduction materials/supplies to people who use drugs in Peel Region
- Provide educational materials on harm reduction, HIV/AIDS, Hep C and STBBI’s
- Provide support for people who use drugs with regards to health promotion, community resources/referrals, and one-on-one non-clinical counselling.
- Order, stock and maintain needle exchange and other instruments with Peel Public Health
- Maintain working relationships with community partner agencies.
- Develop and deliver prevention and harm reduction presentations/messages to target populations in a variety of venues, including parks, bars, community agencies, and online.
- Record and monitor statistical information to identify current issues and client needs.
- Work with the harm reduction team to identify outreach locations and schedule.
- Liaise with managers of outreach venues to identify outreach spaces.
- Involve community partner agencies, health care providers, and stakeholders in the planning and delivery of educational material.
- Develop and maintain partnership opportunities to provide information and resource materials to promote the health of clients affected by HIV/AIDS and/or substance use
- Actively participate in relevant networks and coalitions serving clients affected by HIV/AIDS and substance use.
- Provide information regarding concrete support services for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and/or substance use and to provide educational material to enable clients to cope more effectively with issues and concerns related to HIV/AIDS and or/substance use.
- To work with and support peer satellite workers to provide low barrier supports to people who use drugs.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in social services or related field or equivalent and relevant work experience. Lived/living experience with substance use is seen as an asset and will be counted as relevant experience.
- Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of substance use, sexuality, gender identity and harm reduction principles and the ability to understand and practice harm reduction principles as they relate to substance use and sexual activity.
- Ability to work from an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, 2SLGBTQ+ positive framework.
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills including a strong ability to work from a client centered approach in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to anticipate potential problems/conflicts and take appropriate actions, and to meet deadlines.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid Driver’s License, Insurance, and clean driving record.
- Access to a vehicle.
- Ability to work evenings and possibly weekends when needed.
