**Overview**:
The Research Assistant is responsible for performing basic, routine tasks within research activities, which are primarily repetitive in nature. This role requires mínimal interpretation or analysis, and the tasks are guided by established standard operating procedures or work instructions. Any deviations or variations from the defined tasks are referred to a supervisor for further guidance. The Research Assistant conducts research activities with significant supervisory oversight from a Research Associate or senior researcher, ensuring the accuracy and adherence to established research protocols and methodologies.

**Responsibilities**:
Performs a range of administrative and operational duties supporting laboratory and research activities. Responsible for record keeping, document management, and maintaining lab manuals. Organizes and schedules meetings, interviews, focus groups, and other research-related events. Provides basic information to clients or research participants and answers general inquiries (e.g., scheduling details, directions). Maintains office supplies and equipment (e.g., photocopiers, printers), coordinating repairs when needed. Prepares courier shipments and maintains inventory, ensuring basic lab supplies are stocked. Assists with data entry into research databases following established protocols and ensures proper maintenance of research records. Supports lab operations by cleaning and organizing workspaces, performing basic maintenance of equipment, and sterilizing or storing glassware and instruments. Collects samples for testing, prepares media, and performs simple material preparation according to specifications. Assists with routine data collection and preparation tasks, including sampling, sorting, and identification. Performs straightforward lab procedures, such as simple tests and measurements, with limited interpretation or judgment. Supports animal care by assisting with feed preparation, performing routine maintenance of animal care facilities, and helping with basic animal care tasks. Work involves repetitive or simple tasks that are learned through on-the-job training, with limited need for judgment. Any issues or deviations from the norm are referred to the supervisor. Primarily interacts with colleagues and maintains positive working relationships. May interact with clients or participants to provide routine information. Work Environment: Works under direct supervision with detailed instructions. Tasks are performed in an office, laboratory, or outdoor field settings, with potential exposure to inclement weather or outdoor elements.

1 year post-secondary education, with limited to no experience required
