**Position Purpose**:
Reporting to the Director, Labour and Staff Relations, as a member of the labour relations team under the direction of the Director, Labour and Staff Relations, performs a variety of labour and employee relations administrative tasks. The incumbent will have regular contact with persons at all administrative levels within the University.
Under the direction of the Director or Senior Advisors, provides support in addressing and analyzing labour and employee relations matters, handles administrative aspects of the grievance process involving labour groups governed by a collective agreement as well as matters involving non-represented employees. Supports the collective bargaining process.
**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:
**Logistical support**: Schedule and participate in joint meetings with unions and meetings to address resolution of workplace issues. Manage union leave process on behalf of the employer, ensuring adherence to relevant provisions in each collective agreement. Support the preparation, implementation and finalize the renewal of Collective Agreements, Memorandums of Agreement/Minutes of Settlement, etc. Support labour-management meetings and resolution of issues raised in joint committee meetings.
**Advisory services**: Where feasible respond to mail, phone calls and visitors to office, making initial assessment of matters raised and delegating or referring to appropriate team member(s) or, as deemed appropriate, draft responses to inquiries, addressing issues on behalf of LR. Collaborate with Labour Relations Advisor, LR Senior Advisors, Director and Human Resources Business Partners as well as Human Resources Managers in order to ensure the provision of support that will address the strategic and operational needs of clients, e.g. training, communication plans and information sessions on renewal collective agreements, workplace policies, procedures, etc. Respond promptly and effectively to clients seeking advice or guidance on labour and employee relations matters, referring clients to Business Partner, advisor or senior advisor, when deemed appropriate.
**Analysis**: Research and analyze comparative human resources management practices, comparative data on working conditions, compensation practices, jurisprudence, legislative requirements, provincial labour relations to support negotiations with various employee groups at the University. Conduct research to support the negotiations process.
**What you will bring**:
Undergraduate degree specializing in human resources, labour relations or a related field of study, or a combination of relevant and related education and experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in human resources, legal administration, or program administration, preferably within a unionized environment
