Building Maintenance Specialist

The Building Maintenance Specialist works closely with the Buildings Manager and Resident Managers to complete maintenance work orders for tenants, and perform repairs and maintenance for the properties.

General Responsibilities (not limited to):

- Perform minor plumbing repairs, including repair of taps, unclogging drains, minor sink repairs, washer and toilet repairs
- Perform minor electrical repairs
- Complete tenant work order requests in a timely and accurate manner
- Complete building maintenance, including the replacement and/or installation of items such as: hardware, light fixtures, switch covers, doors, toilets, fans/fan covers, air conditioner units and covers
- Coordinate work with trades for servicing
- Assess and repair minor appliance work orders (including installation of new appliances)
- Perform carpentry and drywall work, as needed
- Order/pick-up parts for repair, as needed
- Ensure work areas are cleaned, after maintenance is complete
- Ensure the safety of yourself, co-workers and tenants at all times
- Respond to emergency calls from Resident Managers/Buildings Manager, as required
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with colleagues, management, tenants and trades at all times

Qualifications:

- Minimum 2 years related maintenance experience required
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (vehicle required)
- Plumbing knowledge (required)
- Experience in carpentry/trades considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of safely operating power tools and equipment
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Ability to work as a team player; developing and maintaining good working relationships with all individuals
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to kneel/crouch and crawl
- Ability to lift/move items

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $22.00-$27.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call

Supplemental pay types:

- Bonus pay
- Overtime pay
