The Heartland Agency, Imagine Early Learning Centre is currently hiring at our daycare centre in _**North East Calgary - 4804 Edmonton Trail NE**_. As our program continues to expand, we are looking for compassionate and creative **Early Childhood Educators **to join our team, starting as soon as possible. Wage listed as $17.00-$20.00 per hour as base salary.
**Government Wage Enhancement not included in wage listed.**
**Job Type: Full-Time, NO weekends or evenings**
**Responsibilities**:
- Together with the classroom team, create a fun, safe and welcoming environment that follows guidelines and procedures of the Agency, Childcare Licensing and Alberta Health Services
- Oversee the development of classroom routines such as cleaning schedules, planning times, diapering/toileting schedules, etc.
- Ensure messages/information from Manager/Director is relayed to each team member
- Coordinate with classroom team to gather ideas for any special activities/planning, and divide tasks equally amongst team members to execute ideas
- Provide coverage/assign duties and responsibilities for a team member that is absent; ensure that all required tasks needed in a day are completed, and ‘gaps’ filled to ensure the classroom runs smoothly and effectively.
- Coordinate discussions with co-educators about child observations, including any new behaviour changes in children; classroom lead will then oversee the development of a support plan together with team members and the Manager/Director
- Follow-up with the Manager/Director (and/or Program Supervisor) regarding details of any incidents, accidents, or challenges (e.g., concerns expressed by a parent, etc.)
- Facilitate appropriate communication and problem-solving opportunities within the classroom team should conflict or challenges arise.
- Classroom lead will guide educators in an appropriate, respectful manner if they observe actions/behaviours by team members.
- Gather input from team members, and listen to everyone’s voice and ideas. The classroom lead sets an important tone for respectful and open communication, ensuring that all team members have an opportunity to contribute and be heard.
- Set a strong example and provide role modeling to both the children and co-educators (e.g. consistently getting down to the children’s level, consistently using visual cues and other established strategies, engaging with children vs. only supervising, etc.).
- Develop planning alongside classroom team to meet children’s varying needs and interests
- Engage in open communication with parents, and continually work with team members to develop new ways to share learning with families
- Accept feedback in a positive way, utilizing feedback provided to the classroom team to support growth and development of all team members
- Follow up with team members through both formal and informal feedback, ensuring accountability to stated roles and responsibilities
- Have ongoing communication with the Manager/Director to ensure they are aware of both successes/celebrations as well as any challenges to ensure action plans can be developed in a timely manner
- Make changes to classroom schedule as needed, and communicate any changes to the classroom team and Manager/Director.
- Ensure all classroom documentation is kept updated and organized, including child observations, planning, tasks lists, etc.
- Consistently survey the room, ensuring that all children’s needs are being met (e.g.,
- Critical thinker and multi-tasker
- Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental or health related problems, and bring concerns to the Manager/Director in a timely manner such that action plans can be developed and addressed.
- Provide behavioral guidance and utilize developmentally appropriate practices
- Follow and integrate the core concepts of the Play, Participation and Possibilities curriculum framework
- Observe, assess and document program activities as well as children’s individual development and progress
- Assist the children with self-help skills where needed, including toileting and diapering

**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- 1 to 3 years experience working with children ages 19 months to 5 years with a variety of abilities & skills.
- 2-3 years of related experience working with children with challenging behaviours, Special Needs or ASD; a combination of education/demonstrated experience will be considered an asset
