Refer to the "How to apply" section if you require a disability-related accommodation. **What can I expect to do in this role?**: Supporting Aboriginal consultations at the program level, you will: - provide administrative support to management and staff to increase effectiveness of engagement activities by researching, collecting, compiling and maintaining the Crown's knowledge, including in Indigenous community profiles - liaise and develop effective relationships with ministry staff, internal/external stakeholders, other ministries, and various organizations - participate and support meetings and discussions with Indigenous communities, organizations, and related industry to provide information, clarity and understanding regarding exploration and development proposals and ministry initiatives to obtain informed input - lead and/or support the development and delivery of training initiatives regarding Ontario's regulatory consultation framework governing mineral exploration and development, Aboriginal and treaty rights, and duty to consult - support fostering constructive ministry-Indigenous community relations, networks and collaboration, including to promote co-operative working relationships between government, the mineral sector and Indigenous communities. **How do I qualify?**: **Mandatory**: Valid Ontario Driver's license **Technical Knowledge and Experience**: - You have practical/operational experience and knowledge of Ontario's Indigenous communities and organizations; - You have knowledge and understanding of the factors and issues impacting and influencing the Crown's legal duty to consult, Aboriginal and treaty rights, and inter-governmental relations; - You have knowledge of land and resource development matters; - You have knowledge of economic, legal, and political issues underlying Indigenous affairs, history, culture, governance, protocols, agreements and services affecting Indigenous communities; - You are aware of government priorities, policies and strategic directions for Indigenous affairs; - You understand the concepts, barriers and principles for engaging, consulting and building relationships with Indigenous partners, communities and organizations; **Relationship Management Skills**: - You have facilitation, mediation and consensus-building skills to liaise with and support the resolution of issues between Indigenous communities, ministries and stakeholders; - You demonstrate sensitivity to issues and decisions affecting Indigenous communities, including community impacts, opportunities and perspectives. **Research, Analytical and Coordination Skills**: - You can research, analyze, evaluate, coordinate and synthesize information, to update and maintain the Crown's knowledge of Aboriginal rights and interests, to inform and support recommendations and decision-making with respect to meeting the Crown's duty to consult **Communication Skills**: - You have proven oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with colleagues, Indigenous communities and stakeholders, and to develop and deliver communication products such as training materials, presentations, brochures, letters, and information packages; - You can communicate and demonstrate political acuity regarding relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, government, mineral sector, and private sector organizations. **Computer Skills**: **Additional Information**: **Address**: - 1 English Temporary, duration up to 12 months, 435 James St S, Thunder Bay, North Region or 933 Ramsey Lake Rd, Sudbury, North Region - 1 English Permanent, 435 James St S, Thunder Bay, North Region or 933 Ramsey Lake Rd, Sudbury, North Region **Compensation Group**: - Ontario Public Service Employees Union- Understanding the job ad - definitions**Schedule**: *** - 6**Category**: -
