Coordinator of Children and Youth Services
OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for all functions & operational aspects of this division:
- Human Resources_
Recruitment, screening, hiring, scheduling, supervision, evaluation of all related paid and un-paid positions, including full time, part time, contractual and seasonal leaders
- Programming_
Programs are developed and executed within the values, guidelines, boundaries and expectations of Club, legislative and funding bodies
- Funding_
- Administrative_
Administrative and reporting requirements are completed thoroughly and within established deadlines
- Community Engagement_
Professional and active engagement with families, community and related professional agencies
HOURS: July & August 8:30am-4:30pm
September & June 10:00am-6:00pm
October to May 1:00pm-9:00pm
37.5 hours per week
- Due to the nature of the Club’s business, staff cannot always be confined rigidly to a definite schedule of hours - ‘flex’ time WILL be required._
- Supporting other aspects of the organization operations such as facility rentals is a requirement and will require hours outside of regular working schedule_
**TRAINING**:
**Education**:
Post Secondary School Graduate in Recreation and Leisure/Child & Youth Worker/Teaching or related discipline at college or university level.
Qualifications:
Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
High Five PHCD
**Experience**:
3-5 years of experience working with a variety of age categories (5-18 years)
Previous experience managing employees and volunteers
Previous experience in program development, execution and evaluation
Knowledge & execution of the Child Care & Early Years Act requirements

Administer First Aid/CPR as necessary
Ensure that program areas and their equipment are maintained in a state that reflects the high standards of the organization
Ensure all equipment maintains a level of safety and concerns are reported to supervisor
Assist with the transportation service as required
Cooperatively with Program Director, suggest, plan and/or implement parent workshops, open houses and special events as per agency requirements, family needs and/or recommendations
**RESPONSIBILITY**

Responsible for purchasing equipment and program supplies within budgetary restraints
Actively engage in program implementation when required
Contact with Others
Interact with children and families in a pleasant, positive and professional manner.
Maintain open communication with parents regarding their child's needs, child's participation, behaviours and/or any incidents.
Assist with the identification of high-risk/high-need children who may require or benefit from specialized opportunities or services.
Work in partnership with parents to ensure that the needs of their child are being met
Financial
Preparation fee payment schedules within the best practices of the agency
Collection and processing of payments as required
**JOB CONDITIONS**
Physical Demands
Lifting of heavy items such as tables, chairs, sporting equipment, etc. does require the individual in this position to be in good physical condition and be aware of proper lifting techniques etc., to ensure personal safety.
Working Conditions
Position works within a climate controlled facility however programming requirements will require the position to conduct some job responsibilities in outdoor environments/conditions
Due to the large number of children & youth serviced the working environment can be extremely loud during peak hours of operation.
The environment is fast paced and demanding - position is required to be extremely resourceful, ‘think quick on their feet’, manage multiply tasks and issues, able to prioritize and resolve issues effectively, thoroughly, and effectively.
